Harambe: a symbol of hate

Harambe didn't die for this.

May his eternal forgiveness reach the hearts of the sinners.

It went too far years ago.

Pretty soon gorrilas will be killed into extiction because they perpetuate racist stereotypes

Awesome when the university administration doesn't know the difference between "bias" and "biased."

I think I missed the original events here. What does Harambe have to do with "rape culture"?

It doesn't, and nobody claimed it did. "Americanmilitarynews.com" lol

They sent an email to RAs. The email said that they should not allow the meme to be posted around the dorms because it was mostly being used as a racist joke (a gorilla with an African name, is the set up).

They also said to be careful about what people are writing on walls, or using in memes, because the reference to genitals was common in the meme (see the one someone posted above). Repeating these memes outloud to other students could increase the number of sexual harassment reports, basically.

It's all normal stuff. There's nothing to see here. Basically, "Hey, RAs, don't let people post crude things around the dorm."

This is another one of those cases where a "conservative" overreacts to something that is not a big deal, without realizing that they are actually the overly sensitive one.

The mere fact of it being a viable headline that is still within the realms of possibility speaks volumes about current American culture is more the point at hand.

See, you sound triggered. You sound more triggered than the people you are claiming are triggered. I have seen this becoming more and more common, where people seem to be so offended by offended people that they are actually becoming the bigger pussies.

I'm more astonished by universities caving into these demands by stifling free expression. Do the terms "doublethink" and "doublespeak" mean anything to you?

"There have been reports that [Harambe] and the incident surrounding his death have been used to add to the rape culture as well as being a form of racism."
- Brooks Artis - Clemson University - Graduate Community Director

Yeah, but how is Harambe linked to raping?

" Due to the incident students will no longer be able to publicly display Harambe signs and memes after September 30."

So someone co-opted Harambe to push their own sentiments. Same as :eek::eek::eek: bear meme. Would you say the University is wrong to ban usage of :eek::eek::eek: Bear?

I am all for free speech and think dam near all speech should be allowed and the Uni shouldn't ban anything but you make it sound like this is liberals taking an innocuous news story and making a mountain out of it when it is about a re-interpretation of the Harambe news story that the University has an issue with.
