When I do hang cleans I normally rest the bar just above my knee caps. Similar to where you hike the bar up in the deadlift. I know the correct way of doing hang cleans is to let the bar go down past your knees and then pull it up, but does anyone do it my way or close to it? Or do you look down on this variation with such disgust and anger you wish I had died for even posting it?

Sice when are you supposed to go from below the knees? Wouldn't that kind of dispel the whole 'hang' thing?

Uhhhh, how long are your arms?

I do both, but generally from just above the knees.

The way Pyrros does the hang clean is what I was lead to believe hang cleans were done like. I'm saying when I do mine, I rest the bar on my knees while they're bent a little. Then I use them as a platform and do the lift from there.

That Pyrros clean looks more like an olympic lift...hang cleans are alot uglier and shorter in range...

Hang Cleans simply means the bar is off the ground. Many hanging cleans are done from above the knee, to wokr on the power pull portion of the clean

Ohhhhhhh, I thought you meant you reset to below your knees, not that your motion drops it below your knees then you drive it up all in one move.

So you guys don't consider it bad form if the bar is resting on your body? Just as long as you start the lift with the bar off the ground?

when i do hang cleans the bar is halfway between my knee and waist thats how i was shown to do them by an ex oly lifter

I start with the bar above my knee. It becomes a more explosive lift when done this way imo.

I don't know what the right way to do a hanging clean is, but that Pyrros character is such a beast it's almost unbelivable. You would swear that the film is sped up. That guy is so powerful.

The bar isn't resting on his knees, he's still holding the weight just before he puts the power on.

The thigh brush is very common in elite lifters.

Pyrros is living god in WL. The ONLY man to win 4 medal at the Olympics

I know Pyrros doesn't rest it on his knees. I'm saying when I do them I usually rest it on my knees before I go to lift. Instead of dropping the bar down to mid shin level like he does.
