The winner and one of his team seem to notice the struggle between the ref and opponent but just ignore it and keep celebrating

Can't believe it took 22 posts for someone to put the blame on the opponent, and not the ref who was just trying not to get hurt while the winner was running around celebrating, instead of helping the ref restrain the confused loser...
The ref was probably smiling because it's a "funny" incident, the crowd was laughing/cheering, there was confusion... and had he walked away with a stone cold face, you'd still have people calling him a wannabe tough guy.

Let him self get taken down?
Keep sprawling and defending takedowns?
Run?
Initiate his own takedown and get side control until the guys realizes what hes doing?

I guess just get double underhooks and pin him against cage until help arrives.
