2:46 and so on.
Gus coming to get his belt.
I don't agree. But Gus can win.
That will be a great july 4th weekend fight.
It's the dead seriousness of his face that convinced me.
Jones will win again.
everything went right for gust in the first fight and he still lost
I kind of believe him, I feel like Jones has peaked already and Gus hasn't yet.
Jones will win again. Let that sink in.
there the same age and jones striking still has a ways to imprive
Jones will win again.. But this time jones will be out for the kill to make a point
So does Alex's striking lol.
He only lost because he got hit with a huge elbow with 30 seconds remaining in what was previously his most dominant round of the entire fight. I don't see how that equates to "everything going right" for him.
Blah blah blah
I don't mean he has no room for improvement, I mean he's at or near his peak already and won't improve further.
Jake Shields has been trying to improve his standup for 15 years.
it was a great fight dont get me wrong i even thought Gus won... but it seems like people are too quick to dismiss JJ even though he has steamrolled through a majority of his opposition.. i dont get this thinking I think the 2nd time Jones will finish the fight.. Gus looked great though and i think he has a bright future as well.
What makes you think from the first fight he'll finish Gustafsson? the elbow his best shot standing, didn't drop at ALL, plus he has a granite chin. Subbing him? He needs to get a takedown first, which he won't at all in the rematch and even if he did, he'd get up as soon as he gets taken down as he showed in 5th round. So I ask out ? How will Jones finish Gus in the rematch?
Remember Bones focused real hard on boxing this time and even talked about challenging the Klitschko bros. So he must have been pretty happy with his progress.
Afterwards he complained he trained TOO MUCH boxing. Meanwhile Gus must have wrestled his ass off to get his TDD up to par - which he did, even taking Jones down twice!
So basically they both tried really hard to nullify each other's strengths, and it was only Gus who managed to do it. Maybe he's more talented than Jones, a better learner?
I have a feeling that Gus is going to focus on exploiting Jon's spamming of kicks for takedowns. And I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Gus lands a nasty spinning elbow and ends Bones...
Jones won a completely standing fight using elbows and kicks only against Alex who's primarily a striker. Jones won with his Plan C.
