DC came into the sport at 240 LBS...he's a HW my friend. And LOL at MW? The wrestled at around 200lbs in college. Height doesnt have much to do with it, its the size. Does a 6'3 Luke Rockhold belong at HW? Does a 5'11 Max Holloway belong at WW?

Jones and Gus are not HW's based on their height. They just don't have the size.

Reem started at HW early in his career and then in the mid 2000s was at LHW. But then he got bigger. Reem is a sort of different case, lets just be completely transparent about this and say his size gain in Japan came from different sources.

He's very fat. He's 5 foot 11 with the reach of Conor McGregor if that. People with LW's and FW frames can be 240 pounds too they are just fat. To be fair to be DC HW's used to be smaller, Shad is another example of a tanky short HW but 5 foot 11 guys with those dimensions go as low as 145/155. The fact Max is over 60 pounds lighter at the same weight says it all. DC was five inches shorter than Stipe and will be shorter have a reach disadvantage not just against Jones but all of his HW opponents. Even back in the old days when HW was smaller would be surprised if he faced someone smaller than him.

Weight is something fluid that changes. You can not change your height. You can change your weight(with some obvious limitations on weight loss). So height is a better way to judge someone's natural weight class cause that ain't changing. It's not just Jones and Gus quite a few 205'ers could dominate HW.

I don't think he would do well at HW. He doesn't have one punch KO power and he doesn't seem to be able to pack on size very well, he normally fights with a reach advantage in almost all of his fights and that would happen much less at HW.

I don't think Gus can put on that much size, especially not while being tested by USADA(even with PEDs I don't think he has the body type to put on much mass).

He'd need to pack on some muscle, but it would be an interesting move.

He has plenty of room to grow, that body of his looks like @250 he’d grow out his hips while his shoulders would stay narrow....

He looks skinny fat like the Diaz brothers, guys with that type of build generally don't put on muscle very well. I'm a Gus fan too.

I didn't say Gus would be necessarily better. My point was you said DC would "obviously maul" the only opponent besides Jones who has ever given him a tough fight. That sounded silly.

DC could also easily be slowing down as well due to his age. He has looked good, but it might be more because of the level of HW division than him being at his best still.

That said, I dont know if Gus is in his prime anymore. But if he was at his best, he would have a better chance to beat DC than almost any other fighter in any weightclass.

Gus is more skilled than 99% of hws

All about his power, which won't be enough

His wrestling is really fucking good. Better than most of the HW division and his cardio is also on point. He's fought the best wrestlers at LHW and more than held his own. Even one of his earlier losses to Phil Davis he was giving him fits.

It makes the most sense for him right now. Jones is back and is 2-0 against Alex. He's very unlikely to get another crack at Jon without making a seriously impressive run. On the flip side, DC will retire very soon and the HW title will be up for grabs. HW is shallow and he would have a big speed and cardio advantage over most guys. He could be champion given the right match ups.

The worser part is if you look at Gus' body in the first Jones fight vs the seconf Jones fight ...

... it would seem someone else might have been on the sauce.

MIGHT have ... not saying for sure. But clearly he was nowhere near the shape he use to be in.
