I mean srsly, ppl act like Gus "really showed" jones whos boss or something.

No he didnt. He hit him with a few punches in the first 2 rounds and took him down once and failed to do anything on the ground because jones immediataly got up.

The rest of the fight, jones was just managing to keep his range and pick him apart with painful shots eventually splitting his head open, gus was literally sprinting across the ring to avoid a takedown.

Ill admit gus was the first to really hit jones in a legit fashion, but he really didnt do anything else except cut jones.

It's "overrated" slightly because 1 jones is so disliked here and 2 nobody had really challenged him during his time as champion. Gus definitely went out there and took it too him winning round 1 pretty clearly. From there the previous two factors I mentioned have elevated his very good performance to the level of legendary here...which is over doing it

Gus "sprinting around the ring" made Jones' flailing takedowns look silly. When Jones' TDs had been considered unstoppable before.

And Gus seriously fucked Jones up...Jones was out for months after, and looked like death post-fight.
