Gus landed some half ass leg kicks and jones had to be carried away limping by his team after the fight. I dont know why other fighters havent seen it. Jones also does this backing straight up with his hand out thats just asking to be leg kicked. Machida use to do the same with backing straight up and shogun kicked his legs out. I think jones can take the same kind of punishment to his legs. Someone who is confident in their ground game can spam them all night and jones will get hit everytime.

Did cormier commit to a leg kick gameplan? If gus started them in round 1, throwing a kick to jones leg at the end of every 2 punch combination, jones would be screwed. Jones isnt a double legger who shoots in. He trips you from the clinch.

Taking away a significant reach and height advantage for Jones will hurt him. Jones doesn't have particularly good boxing skills and uses his kicks to keep opponents away and deter them from initiating boxing exchanges. Gustafsson will always be a difficult opponent for Jones. If Cormier can use leg kicks and hurt his movement, Cormier has a real shot of beating him because he has better hands.

Im almost 100% Gus would beat the shit out of Jones again in a rematch. Jones will always have a hard time taking Gus down and his boxing will always be light years behind. The only reason he "won" first time was that one hail mary elbow at the end of round 4, without that he would have needed a finish in the 5th.

...and because Big John saved Jones ass during the last break by begging the doctor to not stop the fight because of Jones cut and by letting Jones eye poke Gus 4 times during the fight.

Nothing is being spun. Yes jones did all of those things but that doesnt change the fact that some vulnerabilities were observed that other fighters can take advantage of. He runs straight back with his hand out in his face. Its similar to what machida did against fighters who tried to chase him. Its asking to be leg kicked because you cant check them when youre doing that
