If people watched how badly Maia schooled Conor's teammate Gunner Nelson on the ground, then the outcome of Sat night's fight should come as no surprise. There's no way that the #2 or #3 best fighter in your gym is light years behind you on the ground. Therefore you could reasonable say Conor's ground game is on par with Gunner's and they both were obliterated by a high level bjj guy. The code to defeat Conor has been broken in my opinion. I see him having serious problems in his next 2-3 fights and losing them all (Aldo, Edgar, RDA?)

Let's be honest, Maia schools 99% of fighters in the UFC.

I thought that too, in terms of his bjj skills are no where near elite. And that he would have trouble with good ground guys. But lets not forget the choke was set up by good punches on the feet then from mount.

There is so much dumb in this post, I don't even know where to begin. Almost every single sentence is wrong. That is kind of an amazing accomplishment in and of itself.

Gunnar's ground game is totally legit....Maia's is just on another level. Joe Rogan said it best....that's the difference between a super high level grappler and one of the best ever. I would imagine Gunner has his way with Conor in practise.

Mang TS dumb as bricks

what do you mean? nate brought up his sparring partners a couple times

Gunnar has a great competitive record. Gunnar is a Renzo Gracie black belt. Maia is simply that damn good.

If anything, Conor has a good teammate to learn and practice jiu jitsu step by step with.

Not a fair assessment. Maia stand on the very top of BJJ fighters in the UFC, along with Jacare, Werdum and Frank Mir. Losing to Maia on the ground is normal. And Gunnar is a good fighter.

I refuse to believe Conor is as bad as everyone says at BJJ. He is a brown belt and I'm sure he's a legit one.
There are many levels to BJJ. Conor was rocked and panicked in survival mode.
Gunnar is a high level black belt, but Maia is at the highest level. But I don't there is a correlation!

Gunner Nelson will grapplefuck most of the ww division, Maia is just on another level, than the whole division

Maia is in contention for having the best MMA-adapted BJJ in the history of the sport. Gunnar is a legit BJJ blackbelt. Conor would be something like no-stripe purple/high level blue. Dont see the connection you're trying to make.

There is an interview of frank Mir talking about demian Maia's ground game and he says something along the lines of

"he could have had sex with me and I wouldn't have been able to do anything about it"
that's coming from a UFC heavyweight with world class Bjj.
