In light of what Rogan has said it's interesting to note Gunnar would like the same thing.

What do you all think about the glove debate?

Curved gloves?

gloves are weapons for strikers. You can hit hard, and not break your hand. It also makes grappling harder, RNCs are a way harder to sink, although makes armbars way easier too.

Gunnar says doesn't play. I like it.

I honestly would be ok with fighters having a choice between gloves/no gloves but realistically we will never see bareknuckle MMA again

yeah, no gloves would result in lots of broken hands. Curved gloves still result in eyepokes when guys push off or get a thumb in the eye. The bare knuckle gloves cause a lot of cuts(watch the bare knuckle boxing events that were being done)

I never wear hand wraps either. It fucks with gripping.

I also wish the sport was bare hands.

I like bare, but damn, Pride. Those guys were way ahead in some areas. Gloves that reduce eyepokes. Knees and kicks to downed opps. That ten minute first round. The scoring system, and the weight class breaks of 170, 200, and over (no upper limit)

I'd like to see the UFC at least experiment with the curved gloves. Perhaps using them on a Fight Pass card, or trying them out on an Invicta card or something to start with.

I think a problem is that knuckles will cut people open way easier, could lead to more pre-mature stoppages?

look at the bellator and pride gloves above in the first post. neither of them do anything about the thumb. The same with the fingers, yeah they're curved but if someone is pushing off of their oponent the fingers are still going to straighten and poke.

I think it's silly because the data is there in both Pride and Bellator. I believe someone did a post illustrating how significant of a difference there was with eye pokes in comparison to the UFC.

Joe insists bare knuckle is safer because of how wraps make your hands heavy, therefore inflicting more damage. Perhaps no wraps with gloves as Gunnar does is the safest? In any case, lots of ideas on the table.

Give Jon Jones boxing gloves and he'll still find a way to poke at people's eyeballs.

I haven't worn gloves or handwraps in BJJ yet so I cannot speak to that but I in striking only wear gloves or just wear handwraps. Although just wearing handwraps hitting things cuts my skin open underneath too much even though I can punch full force. Gloves sometimes my wrist flops as I hit or my thumb or forefinger hurts because I can't make a proper fist and on uppercuts I can sometimes hit with those fingers.
I would prefer bare knuckles or optional handwraps only as it probably to grapple and rewards better strikers.

There is some research that suggests that bareknuckles would be better for brain health but worse for facial scarring. If it is true then even more reason to do away with them.
I think people that break their hands with handwraps and gloves on are either punching wrong, have fragile hands, or get unlucky sometimes with their wrist flopping as they hit someone.
