What do you think on how high Nelson's ceiling is?

He is an amazing grappler, and can finish fights in a small amount of time if he gets it to the ground. The problem is, he isn't a great wrestler, and his striking isn't that great, he is a straight forward karate striker, except he isn't very difficult to getting a blueprint for. Rick Story easily found out that Nelson isn't a threat at all when moving back, and also isn't great at setting up that 'karate blitz'.

Tumenov is quite a pressure fighter, with even better striking skills than Story, more power and is much more fluid. I think he will knock Nelson out in the first or second round. I don't think momentum is on his side at all, unless he thinks tapping Conor will automatically guarantee him a victory vs Tumenov. There are much strongers wrestlers in Balkaria, than in Iceland and Ireland/UK together.

Nelson is also pretty small for the weight class.

Do you think he will beat Tumenov? and do you think he should really move to 155?

he just lost his last fight - people prob dont remember his fights before then - sherdog aint going to be too nice to him - best to ask after a win, then maybe people will think he can even move up and challenge bigger guys

if he loses again, he might need to drop weight or just quit mma forever

Of course I remember his last fights, but Akhmedov and Thatch are far from top fighters lol, and the fight vs Story wasn't exactly close.

I used to think it was pretty high, lately though I think he may have reached it already.

im sure you remember the fights, but what are you expecting from the community? this isnt about conor mcgregor or hating jon jones

the fight w story wasnt close? why you say that? gunnar is a really good fighter, he was being built up i thought for the european cards and then ran into some tough challenges - still a really good fighter i think - it was rough for him bc he was kind of known as a bjj guy and then he ran into maia

Tumenov is going to knock him out. I think he loses to pretty much everyone in the top 10.

Maia's basement.

Why do I say the Story fight wasn't close? Well.. because it wasn't close lol. He was backpeddling for most of the fight and got hit whenever Story wanted to hit him, without being able to create any offense of his own, except that one takedown in the first round. Then it all went downhill. Gunnar also seems to have a bad gas tank. He was gassing vs Cummings, Story and Maia.

if gunnar is an amazing grappler then what does that make demian maia

He's got impressive top control, but that's literally it. Maia completely schooled him on the ground which shows that he probably isn't much of a threat off his back if you take him down (much akin to Weidman) and as you mentioned his striking is very limited.

His offensive wrestling is decent but not quite good enough for the elite. If he can improve his wrestling, he might crack into the top 10.

hahahahaha - thats about what i expected - maybe one day grow up and put on the big boy pants and have some better reasons

Yeah, he got one inside trip, against Story - it was pretty nice, but that is all he has shown us. Even Santiago gave him fits on the ground.

Since he is associated with Conor it will be shit all to sherdog.
