Serra: journeyman who knocked him out.
Penn: LW who took him to a split decision. GSP had to grease to win the rematch. Penn is 1:9:1 in his last 11. The guy is now the fighter with the worst record in the organization. GSP had to cheat to beat him.
Hughes: washed up, still has a win over GSP.
Koshchek is 2:6 since GSP, again one of the worst records in the ufc.
Hardy is 2:3. Why did Hardy get a title shot anyways? Was ufc so desperate to build GSP's record?
Diaz: the mang was 1:1 before getting a TS. Notoriously bad against rasslers. Tailor made fight for GSP. Another tailor made fight for GSP who had no way of losing this fight.
Condit has a record of 2:7 after GSP. ALmost knocked GSP out.
GSP wouldn't take it to the ground with Shields, instead he decided to strike with him and got outstriked. By the worst striker in the history of man kind. Shields is 7:6 after fighting GSP.
Alves is 6:8. Why was he fighting Alves?
The only worthy fighter GSP has ever faced was Fitch. The guy still has a good record.
    ----------------------------------------
Thats it GSP only fought Fitch

    FInishes:
GSP couldn't finish any of his opponents. All of his opponents (except Diaz) were finished afterwards by lesser opponents.

GSP opponents losses half a decade later prove they were never that good and GSP sucks...

This is how great GSP is. The guy is retired and people still can’t stop talking about him.

That's like saying Rich Franklin never fought tough competition and then listing deceased Evan Tanner as someone who never became a world beater after that.

Your historical context is about what I'd expect around here

GSP ruined fighters mentally. Alves was a wrecking machine going into UFC 100, the whole WW division was shitting themselves about that dude. He was 100% sure he was winning that belt. Once GSP laid that 50-45 on his ass. Alves was like "Shit I am that far away from beating that dude"

What does Hughes being washed up have to do with anything? Their first fight was 15 years ago, everyone gets old and washed up eventually.

Fedor as the Pride HW champ once fought an 0-1 Pro Wrestler. Now that's competition..

Funny enough he then in 2009 turned down Brock..

try looking at their resume's prior to them fighting GSP. WW was loaded and all those guys were considered legit challengers.

alves was on 7 fight winning streak vs tough comp. He had won 9 of his last 10 with 7 of those by knockout and the only loss was vs fitch. Lots of people gave him a legit punchers chance.

kos was considered a tough style match up because he had wrestling and ko power in his hands. He had given gsp a tough fight in the first match up and seemed to be getting better with his hands

hughes was still considered elite, only had 2 losses in the last decade which were to gsp and penn who he also both beat making a rubber match a worthwhile fight

penn was the lw champ and in recent years his only losses were to hughes who he also beat, gsp in a split decision many think he won, and to lyoto machida at heavyweight where machida came in at around 230 lbs.

youve already admitted fitch was legit

handricks was 15-1 and on a tear. This was before he let his eating get the best of him and the dude had wrestling and power in his hands

shields was on a 15 fight win streak including wins over dan henderson, robbie lawler, carlos condit and yushin okami. I personally know people who put down money on him to beat gsp, they were convinved he was gsp's kryptonite

condit was 13-1 over his last 14 fights and considered a live dog in that fight

hardy, serra and nick diaz were all considered relatively easy give me fights with serra pulling off the stunner only to get smashed in the rematch. GSP also beat sherk and a prime karo parysian who was a bad boy.
honestly it was pretty much a non debate about the level of comp he fought during his career. It wasnt until he took the diaz fight over giving hendricks his shot and then left the sport after winning a controversial decision over hendricks that people started trying to nit pick his opponents and resume.

GSP fought the same 4 guys for at least 8 fights. Koscheck, Penn, Serra and Hughes. GSP had 22 UFC fights. [(8/22) x 100] = 36%. This means that GSP spent at least 36% of his UFC career getting beaten by and beating the same 4 guys.

What is the significance of these statistics? I don't know. I just find them interesting. Also, if we are going to use "consecutive wins in the UFC" as a criterion for GOAT contention, then how should we account for rematches?

For example, if a fighter has 10 consecutive wins, and 4 of them are against the same 2 opponents, is this record as good as a fighter with 10 consecutive wins against 10 different opponents?

Using objective data to determine GOATness is way more complicated than using nostalgia triggered emotional arguments. LOL
