GSP weightlifting routine

Yeah when I read that I pretty much figured the article was bullshit or GSP was downplaying how much he really trains. It actually says he usually goes less then 45 minutes per session.
pretty much
unless it was really worded poorly and it meant to say he trains at least 3 sessions of BJJ, wrestling, MT and boxing everyday throughout the week

I think that is what is meant. That's what, 9-12 hours a week for training? Even then it's probably during his regular training, not his "fight" training.

Well, the pictures showed him doing some Ross type stuff. Medicine ball floor slams, DB snatches, etc. Read Infinite Intensity, and that'll probably be pretty close.

I miss Chase for this exact reason.

they probably just write up a routine, slap his picture on it and ask his approval to publish it. what the fuck would GSP care? if his opponent knows he doesn't do lateral raises, his fight strategy will then be attack the shoulders all night? :icon_conf

I think you're right. Look at some of the bodybuilding magazines and the routines they have for the top bodybuilders. Some are plain garbage, and you know these guys aren't doing that. Like you said they also could have took what GSP said and worded it bad. I'm guessing they interviewed him over the phone and a few things GSP said might not have came out right.

gsps probably still shook up from all those shots serra gave him to the head...

oh wait.

hehe

If you scroll down to the video of episode 2 of The Fight Network's Rush to Success series he briefly goes over a basic circuit set that he does, although I'm not sure how recent that clip they instilled is because of course his routine may have changed a lot. He goes over a sample of his workout I believe it was a complete set consisting of 10 reps of bench, 10 reps of medicine ball push ups, 10 reps of incline flys, 10 reps of upright rows, all done in a row. Not much just thought I'd add in my 2 cents.

Why do you care so much. It's likely jsut a crap cookie cutter workout article without much detail. Following it won't make you like GSP, and it likely won't give you the results you want. Your time would be much better spent reading the stickies in the training forums and gaining some useful knowledge. And by stickies, I mean S&P, Conditioning, and D&S.

yea, those are curl munky mags

Actually, the article doesn't give any routine at all GSP just talks about a few exercises that he does and there are pictures.

I think you're wrong about reading articles about the way fighters train, when I read an article about Couture it introduced me to barbell complexes for the first time along with sprinting for cardio. Not to mention, many times seeing these articles serve as motivation for people, I know everytime I read the article about Franklin and Gurgel lifting weights it really motivates me to see them both doing things like DL and sled drags. And I have found numerous great conditioning circuits from reading Kevin Kearns articles in Ultimate Grappling. The internet is not the only source of knowledge.

But you are right about doing a workout just because a fighter does it. Some fighters don't put a ton of thought into their training they just do it.
