GSP vs Anderson Silva at 185lbs circa 2009: who would have gotten it done?

Silva beat Hendo he already faced that skill set . Other then chale 1 when has Anderson been controlled on the ground ?

You think Henderson and GSP's skillsets were similar!? HOW?

Henderson was a plodding overhand right, coupled with stiff movement and fading Greco-Roman skills that he rarely used anymore.

GSP was a skilled kickboxer, a brilliant, fluid and explosive stategic shooter, and a top-shelf guard passer with respectable submission skills.

GSP shoots early and gets blasted with a knee. Andy chooses to not follow up and GSP becomes gun shy. Andy fucks around for a couple of rounds and then puts him on skates and stiffens him up in round 3. Maybe round 4 or 5 if Andy is pissed at Dana about something.

"All three judges have scored this bout 50-45, for the winner by unanimous decision, Georges Saint Pierre."

Anderson by murder

Now days though?” GSP by 50-44 and still/new”

Those are totally different scenarios though.

Silva, did matrix finish Forrest.

Who was on a decline not only in his fighting sense but personal life as well and was suffering from stress and depression so much he was xanaxed out of his mind and shouldn’t have been allowed to fight that night.

He even says so himself in an interview that he shouldn’t have been alllowed to fight that night.

Alves, was on the strongest winning streak of his career and a high point in his life.

Gsp would have finished Forrest easily that night as well, and alves would have put up a great fight against Anderson if they had switched opponents

It’s not anywhere near apples to apples.

Really?
Andy biggest weakness is grappling he has trouble vs every grappler he faces
Gsp would be most well rounded guy he would have fought
Gsp sonnens him without getting subbed

Would be a closer fight than many Silva fans like to admit, however unless GSP pulled a straight takedown only gameplan and had success keeping him there I would have to say GSP would lose eventually. At the time however they were indeed a weightclass apart.

GSP didn't want that fight even though it at that point in time it would have been the biggest fight and payday of his career - it's pretty obvious why he didn't want it.

Silva by KO

Silva would have deaded him, and that's a fact. That fight would have generated so much money for its time, it would have been unreal. GSP never would commit, for a reason.
Lol @ fact
When andy has been dominated by so many grapplers

Assuming Anderson was on gear and passing the tests at this time? I would vote Anderson. And if the fight had been booked back then Anderson would have been a big favorite

What cost Anderson the title was that he got old and his reflexes slowed down a bit and his chin was getting weaker. Weidman is a huge 185er with very heavy hands. And Chael's style of fighting was very different from GSP's. Chael was a big 185er too, and he gambled correctly that he could storm into Anderson's striking range and survive the few strikes Anderson would land on the way into the takedown attempt. GSP would never try to bull rush an opponent the way Chael would rush Anderson as wildly as Chael did. He would not have tried to box with Anderson the way Chael did. He would have stayed at a distance and tried to keep Anderson at a distance with kicks.

He was still trying to break records at WW at the time and become the forever undisputed WW goat.

Why would he risk that on a one time MW superfight that would derail his goals at WW.

This is the single biggest issue a lot of people are missing.

And goerge did say, come to WW and challenges for the belt if you want to fight me so bad.

Or wait till I’m done at WW and have the time to put the size on AND GET USED TO THE SIZE.

He wasn’t scared, he wasn’t ducking, he had shit to do at WW still and this wasn’t the right time for MW gsp yet

Yeah. Woulda sucked if he struggled so hard to put on that weight and had a tummy ache.

C'mon, this stuff is insane at this point. We saw him at MW - he isn't the biggest guy there or anything, but he looked like a cartoon super sayian version of himself ffs. Going up obviously wasn't a problem unless you believe his story. AS couldn't meet him at WW without losing a leg but offered a CW at 180.

Georges just never wanted that fight.
