im sorry but choosing to stick to your weightclass is not ducking. this is your category, your body type. Weight classes exist for a reason. If you avoid someone in your own category thats something, if you choose a harder challenge by going up or down a category that doesnt suit your body for the challenge than kudos for the brass balls. But I dont see it as mandatory either

I agree. Most of the greats were cherry pickers in some sense of the word. That's why we celebrate journeymen like BJ, Diaz, and Cerrone for running face first into the elite and not being scared of losing. They lose at a decent clip, and catch haters in the process, but they pick themselves up and try again.
