One shocking statistic upon GSP retiring was that he had taken somewhere in the region of 400+ strikes to the head in his last 4 UFC fights, which was largely more than his entire career. I remember hearing this and thinking "how?" - like when you look at it, Hendricks is understandable, he was smacked around in that one. Diaz barely touched him from what I remember, Condit did OK, but other than that huge head-kick, did he really land that much? Jake Shields actually landed a whole lot on him, somehow!

Georges said essentially that he's "taking a break" due to the effects of the damage and also continuously brought up the whole "I'm not returning until the testing is better for steroids" thing. Claiming that he cares more about his health than getting a paycheck. He's supposedly afraid his opponents are on roids. Now this on face-value sounds sensible, but then you consider his opponents before retirement. Diaz and Condit are not roiders, clearly! Hendricks most of the time is overweight, so I don't see that. Shields failed for diuretics, so not exactly roids either, closest of the 4 though.

So here's my point. Isn't it quite convenient that the minute this WADA testing comes in, this legend of the sport with a squeaky-clean image, decides to take the high-road and leave? Could it be him getting out when the time is right? Perhaps. Did he see the game passing him by, with guys like Hendricks, Lawler, Woodley, MacDonald coming? Perhaps.

Being honest, even those who follow and like GSP have to admit he looks like he's on steroids. Even the Lehman who knew very little on steroids has been forced into education over the last few years with all the high-profile busts. Most of us can spot one a mile off, Hector, Overeem, Belfort, Georges was a perfect specimen, he looked like a cyborg dammit. Now if you've never tested positive nobody can say you're on them - but I've watched many videos on this conspiracy and a fair few steroid experts have claimed that he has "signs" of a user. That belly for instance, the "steroid belly" where it's like a 4-6 pack that is over-pronounced and sticking out like many body-builders.

Here is a body-building article which is an interesting angle on it - also a video of Hendricks speaking on it, which makes perfect sense to me also.

Coincidence that the one WADA tested fight he gets beaten to shit? Perhaps a bad style match-up? Just seems a little fishy to me...

I reckon if he comes back, he loses whomever he fights against. As long as they can half-defend a takedown, 2 and a half years out of action is no joke either - and WW is stacked!

Opinions?

Definitely a bad style match-up, and let's be honest Johnny has not looked like the same figher since he started getting tested.
Also, you're acting as if GSP can't strike and if he doesn't get a takedown he can't win. GSP has outstruck basically everyone he has fought

Who has he out-struck really? Like really...

How did the nicest guy in MMA, greatest WW champ in history, become the UFCs and UFC's fanboys' whipping boy?

Maybe he left for the exact reasons he said he left.

He did take more damage than usual later in his run.

He's a nice guy, but so was Armstrong for years. What I'm asking in simple terms is, does the man look like he's on steroids? Yes or no?

Diaz Condit shields hardy alves koscheck penn fitch hughes sherk trigg miller strasser parysian hieron spratt denny galibraith bruckerman menjivar...and serra 2
Why is he known by almost all of the MMA community as a guy who lay n prayed then if he was such an amazing striker?

It's everyone's knowledge that post Serra KO, the man was Mr. Play it safe. Never ever come to an MMA argument and tell me that GSP outstruck Diaz in their fight, what were you watching? The man took him down all 5 rounds and lay on him. Come on bro...

Question for you all - what does his ability to out-strike or not out-strike someone have to do with steroids?

i remember when gsp came back from his second or 3rd knee surgery vs condit he said he wanted to make a statement. i remember during the fight thinking gsp is trying to turn it up a notch here and up his intensity/pressure.... but that extra gear wasnt there. he wasnt the same.

surgeries and age does that to everyone. i dont know about recovering from surgery but it happens with age for sure. one or moment you realize that the next gear is missing and you will never get it back. no matter how hard you work you wont be as athletic as you once were, its over. gsp has had another knee surgery and he is older

his body may be where it was in the hendricks fight and aside from wonderboy the division is stale. thats the only reason he might come back. if he was a mw and all of the sudden rockhold, weidman, jacare, romero, etc showed up since retiring theres no chance he comes back

when you think of GSP, think of the GOAT. The rest of your hatred gets shoved down your throat.

The gut is very suspect and might be an indicator of HGH/insulin. I can't find the pic but when he was on his knees beggibg for the titleshot, you can see very remarkable development in his traps/delts, which are the muscle groups that blow up on steroids due to high androgen receptors in those areas. I'm almost 100% convinced he was on PED's, just like the vast majority of the fighters in his era

I think some are disappointed they never got to talk shit after a GSP loss. It's more than obvious some ppl here like to see dominant champs lose. They like to see ppl at the top of the UFC making the big money lose. Doesn't matter if they are squeaky clean and respectful. Some ppl here just want to see the stars lose. After Serra ppl lost their chance to see a true great go out in humiliating fashion. 28 mths later, and the hate continues. They can justify their feelings to themselves and that's all that's required. The guy beat every single person he ever fought. Get over it, already.
