GSP is the most gifted athlete I've ever seen in any sport

You’re falling into the trap of making broad generalisations based on your own experience, as you have been all thread.

Literally the first few links after a quick Google search have real football as the 4th/5th most popular sport in the US.

Mexicans, whites and blacks all play real football with more regularity than they do American Fatball, which is niche sport globally.

You probably don't have a strong command on decision science/statistics. You need to understand what those rankings are based off of to understand why those rankings are bullshit. The first one and 3rd one is basing it off of TV ratings in regards to the world cup. Nobody is sitting down and watching soccer on their weekends in America. The second one is based off of league revenues. Soccer ranks 5th because there's only 5 legit leagues.

Go ask the average American to name 1 professional soccer player on the planet Earth and they'll most likely look at you with a puzzled look or say Pele. Ask them to name a Golfer, Boxer, Tennis player etc, and it's a different story. Men's soccer is not popular at all with whites and espspecially blacks in the United states.

These conversations are always ridiculous.
Honestly, we shouldn't allow other countries on our forums or allow them to use the Internet.

I was moreso refering to your complete delusion.....these guys are chewing you up badly in here mate.

You really do need to leave your bubble.

Yeah, before moving into venture capital I worked as a quant analyst for one of the biggest investment firms in the UK. I can confidently state that my grasp of statistics is better than yours unless you’re educated to a PhD level in the subject.

In other words,

“ignore the actual evidence you provided from unbiased sources and focus on my anecdotal evidence instead”.

And you wonder why nobody takes you seriously

<DisgustingHHH>

Yeah this is definitely the dumbest thread I’ve seen on this site by a pretty big margin

So you're one of them too eh?
This is more like when you're in a room full of idiots, it doesn't matter if you're right or not.

Also, the real world is just now waking up.

Could do them without a steroid session and still play a sport that involves more than 11 minutes of ‘action’.

Face it - a sport played almost entirely within the confines of one nation, with a huge degree of positional specialisation, is not going to be producing well rounded, a-level athletes.

actually it’s out way around

there’s over million high school football players n only 1800 nfl players

1st that high school player has to make it to ncaa (preferably division 1) n from there every year around 250 college players are selected in nfl draft.

In other words to make it to the nfl you really have to be best outta best in what you do.

I don't believe you, and even if you did, you basically worked for one of the biggest investment firms on a tiny little island that uses monopoly money.....smh
Also, you're education is meaningless. I know a guy from London with a nuclear engineering degree that now drives a cab over her because his degree isn't recognized. At least he can own a home now though.....

I'm not ignoring it or even disputing it, I'm pointing out that just because a bunch of people watch the world Cup finals every 4 years doesn't make soccer a popular sport in the United States.

I don't think people in Western Europe realize to what degree most Americans laugh at them, especially the British. Your accents alone make you like the least intimidating people on the planet. We just see you guys as little shithole countries that would still be part of the Soviet Union if we didn't police the world.

Anyways

Do you think that’s some sort of exception amongst popular sports in any nation?
According to the FA’s State of the Game report, over 11 million people regularly play football in England alone, with 4000 professional full-time players. That’s literally just in ONE footballing nation (just England, not the UK).

I don’t disagree that to make it to the NFL you have to be among the best at what you do - but what they do is still relatively niche compared to more global sports.

I already stated that there is a current NFL player from my hometown in Scotland who dropped out of rugby without being a stand out players, picked up the game of American football 6 years ago and is already in your words “the best of the best at what he does”.

I couldn’t care less if you believe me son. Like I said, currently in venture capital, previously with a UK based investment management firm, and prior to that with a US investment bank. Sitting my final CFA exam in June.

‘Merica -
the land of A-level athletes coupled with the highest rates of obesity in the world, where nuclear engineers drive taxi’s and borderline illiterate simpletons achieve presidency. Good for you kid, good for you <45>

I think the best soccer players in the world are better at soccer thatn the best NFL players are at football simply because of the numbers that you point out, but this thread is about raw athletic ability. How man soccer players are are running a a 40 yard dash in 4.4 seconds with a 35 inch vertical and throwing up 30 reps of 225lbs on the bench. My guess would be not a single one. Add to this that anyone can play soccer. That's why it's a mostly a girl's sport in the United States. It doesn't require a lot of athletic ability. It's mostly just requires being in shape and having a lot of skill like baseball or hockey. It doesn't require the speed, strength, and explosiveness that football requires to be successful.

Quoted for authenticity. Confirmation that you do very little successfully when left on your own.

Cool. A bunch of arbitrary tests taken from the NFL combine. Imagine our surprise when American fatballers are better at tests designed specifically for American fatballers?

Next you’ll be telling me that real footballers would win if it was a 10k race, dribbling a football or kicking one with power.

GSP most gifted?
Has he been proven to have a huge genetic advantage?

Usain Bolt has
"Usain Bolt’s legs, however, have a higher proportion of fast-twitch to slow-twitch fibres than the average man at 80% compared with 50%, respectively"
https://theboar.org/2018/10/bolt-legs/

I'd argue that it's way harder to prove someone's genetic superiority for fighting compared to more one-dimensional sports like sprinting. Fighting includes such a mixture of intelligence, technique etc. Sprinting is more raw speed.

You know that several soccer players are on the top 10 best paid athletes in the world, making tens of millions of dollars a year. If you believe its that easy to gain those skills (ie it doesn't require a natural talent to learn skills) then why not become one of those extremely rich soccer players yourself?

Seriously, if anyone can learn to play high level soccer and earn millions of dollars a year, then why aren't they doing so? Same with baseball. Its very skill based, and just about everyone in MLB earns more than a million a year. If anyone can learn those skills, why do so few play at major league level? Being able to learn high level skills is as rare as high level explosiveness -- you need to be born with the right neurological genetics. Its a major part of athleticism.

Coordination and timing are not only parts of athleticism, but might in fact be the most important parts of it for most sports. Soccer takes extreme coordination and timing. The problem with extreme explosiveness in soccer is that it means lack of endurance (look at the difference in builds between sprinters and marathon runners). And unlike American football, there is much more running and far fewer breaks in soccer. The ideal is a trade-off between endurance and explosiveness.

He's a natural on the ice too, although he didn't have the size for prohockey.

How’s this thread gone on so long? Surely it was just one numpty trolling.

I mean I pretty much agree with this even though it's what got Jimmy the Greek fired off ESPN decades ago. It's pretty much true to anyone who's not being a PC cuck and scared to face reality.

With that said, there are also plenty of athletes in the NBA / NFL who are not black, who are also extremely gifted and dwarf anything MMA has pretty much, or anything that other sports people seem to be fascinated with (cycling, marathon running?, and even most soccer).

Andy Isabella for example. Draft pick this past year, he's white ...I think? or hispanic in some way perhaps? Pretty sure white, and he ran a 4.3 and had an amazing 3-cone. He was a 2nd round pick and projected as a late 1st to 3rd. That's a top tier athlete. And larger size athletes like OL and TEs - Gronk, Tony Gonzalez, George Kittle, Travis Kelce, Huntery Henry, Austin Hooper, etc. provide some examples.

Luke Kuechly, Goran Dragic, Luka Doncic, Steve Nash sort of, Gordon Hayward prime, etc. There's examples of that too. But yes the selective breeding for physical labor in slavery - sounds but but it's the truth - + likely better genetics generally in the overall gene pool for sub-saharan Africans + poor socioeconomic situations aka NBA/NFL/Sports is a way out for poor kids + culture.

Culture = black kids think soccer is gay. And they love Football, Basketball, and Boxing. Pretty much. People are just scared to admit the facts due to fear of backlash for sjw political bullshit reasons, but it's obvious. No one gives a fuck about soccer in the US. Fact. Soccer has some good athletes sure, better than MMA obviously overall, but the best athletes are NFL/NBA and small amounts in Boxing/MLB/other.
I agree with everything you said 100%

Yes, there are some great white athletes in the NFL, particularly big guys like the ones you named, but when you consider that the U.S. is over 70% white and only about 30% of the NFL is white, it says something. Now take offensive lineman, kickers, and quarterbacks out of the equations, and it shows you just how rare a white man/hispanic with the type of athletic ability that someone like Tony Gonzalaz, Brian Urlacher, or Mike Alstott is. These are the types of players that are on par with the best rugby players all these fuckers on the other side of the pond like to talk about.

Now consider a player like Christian McCaffrey or Julian Edelman. These guys are actually playing in the NFL on straight athletic ability and not size. Yes, they have great skill, but you simply can't do what they do without being a tremendous athlete. These guys are FUCKING rare. Like one in a million. These types of white athletes athletes are on par with guys like Cristiano Ronaldo. They're very fast, muscular, and explosive.

Now you get to that next level shit. Let's just use NFL hall of fame running back Eric Dickerson as an example. This freak was 6'3" 220lbs and ran the 200 meter in 20.9 seconds in fucking HS. Add to this, he could cut on a dime. There are no white athletes like this on the planet Earth. There are no Soccer players like this out there. This is the epitome of what selective breeding created.
