GSP is obviously just in it for quick cash grabs, low risk-high reward type of fights at this point. He wants nothing to do with power strikers that could deal out a brutal knockout.
He doesn’t want anything to do with Woodley and that fight sells like shit. Khabib or Conor are GSP’s best options, but they likely want him to drain himself to 155lbs which I don’t see happening.
Enter the King of Chaos. GSP’s team could probably convince him to take this fight. Not a high risk of a knock out. But GSP doesn’t like the idea of being embarrassed. Enter the cardio factor. GSP gassed vs Nick Diaz, and was starting to visibly slow down in the Bisping fight.
I have a hard time imagining current post-usada GSP being able to keep up with Colby’s natural pace. So maybe GSP wouldn’t take the fight simply because of cardio fear. The last thing GSP wants to be remembered for is getting NerdBashed by Colby’s verbal assault and then gassing out and getting teed off on the feet against Colby.
It is the classic good guy vs bad guy matchup, so maybe GSP risks the embarrassment for one of his potentially best remaining pay days.
How do you guys see this fight going, and would it break the Conor/Diaz 2 PPV record ? I’ve got Colby by TKO in round 4, and the PPV would sell around 1-1.3 million i think.
