After training in power lifting and strongman for several months I am even or ahead of my training partners in all events save those that involve grip strength. Namely dead lifts (or variations that use grip like car dead lifts etc) and farmers carry. I have been boxing and kickboxing for nearly 15 years with some MMA thrown in. I always noticed how fighters, especially older boxers had extremely soft hands and weak grips when shaking hands. I was told it was from a combination of the damage done from scoring to the top of the head over the years and from hand wraps/tape. Anyone have any additional info on this and/or have a similar experience themselves? I am no where near the point where you can actually feel the loss of stability in my hands but was wondering if I still might be seeing some effect.

On the flip side I might just have a weak ass grip. :icon_sad:

what was the question again?

umm yes, grip work is good?

i have very soft hands yet a horrific grip

The stronger my grip got, the more confident I got with throwing hard punches. It felt like the stronger muscles in my forearm were stabilizing my wrist to an extent where I didn't fear breaking my hand. I HAVE broken my hand due to a punch, but that was clipping someone's elbow.

Shit happens.
