So I'm getting a new grill as my old one rusted out. Apparently you have to season a grill which I honestly never realized!

So what's the best way to season the grill? Do you use bacon grease & oil? Do you just use oil? Could I be lazy and just get a can of cooking spray and use it? How often do you re-season the inside of your grill and/or your grates? Do you have to season the grates if they claim to be covered with that non stick ceramic enamel?

Anything else I should know? Checking for leaks, etc.?

Propane grill are the worst kind of grill.
It was funny on King of the Hill where Khan threw the barbeque. And Hank was mad he wasn't using propane but ended up saying that was the best burger he had.

You can season it with jizz since only homos use propane

get a webber

propane is great for quick cooking, but i really like a coal or wood grill - just need the time for it.

I know propane is for pansies and that real men should use coal or wood. But honestly for me, I just want something I can quick fire up and cook some food. I don't want to have to build a charcoal/wood fire and wait and maintain temp and all that.

Someday I'll get into that tinkering but for me I'm into speed and convenience at this point.

Isn't it going to take me a long time to be able to season my entire grill that way? I want to use this thing before winter time.

i'm with you

I'm looking at getting a combo propane/charcoal since my current propane is on it's last legs.

the flame emitters have dropped down on one side, the temperature gauge doesn't work at all (not that i need that shit) and i've had the fucker for 7 years.

i do like cooking with wood/charcoal though - i do it whenever i go on vacation - but during the week after work - aint nobody got time for that.

This company makes a combo, 1/2 is propane and 1/2 is charcoal. And you can add a smoker box to the side. It's only like $350 for the combo and like $70 for the smoker box. So ya, not the most expensive thing in the world and I'm sure doesn't measure up to a lot of people but for someone like me who is just a casual it would work perfectly fine. Seal up the cracks a bit with some high temp gasket/temp. Get a cover. I bet you could get the whole setup for under $500

OF COURSE YOU SEASON A GRILL!

But what do you use? Can I be a lazy ass and use cooking spray? Or should I "do it right" and paint it all with bacon grease, oil, a combo of the 2?
