Men dominate the audience obviously, and while we're there for the amazing cars and gripping action mainly, the lovely ladies are always bonus eye candy.

I wonder how many women will lose employment because of PC nonsense gone mad?

Meh.

Die hard motorsport fan and a racer myself. The girls add nothing, they get in the way on grid walks and make clearing the grid a longer process.

When I want to look at girls I can look at girls. When I'm watching racing, I'm watching racing.
 
I've noticed umbrage at this, decrying the P.C. reason for it.

I used to watch F1 religiously in the mid 90s. Didn't care / give any thought to the grid-girls. Nobody I knew thought grid-girl was something to talk about. Everyone was just into the race.
 
Ring girls are going to be gone soon I guess .
 
F1 used some incredibly gorgeous international ass. They are not needed but they are fun to look at.

I honestly can't see the big deal. I feel the same way about ring girls - what's the point? I'm not meeting them, talking them or fucking them. If I just want to look at girls, that's what internet porn is for.

But based on Sherdog where we had entire threads devoted to preferred ring girls, I guess it matters to some.

On TV I don't give a shit. But in the audience, between rounds...it's kinda nice for some leggy thing in heels to strut around the perimeter of the cage.

if it doesnt change the cost or quality of the product one way or the other, why not just keep them for the eye candy if you want it.

It never mattered to me, I felt the same about cheerleaders - at least since leaving high school. But I fully accept that it's not a universal opinion.

Why keep them if they don't actually improve the quality of the product? If it's important to you, fight that fight. It's not important to me. Unless I'm aiming to pick one up, I don't care. But I'm not a strip club guy either for mostly the same reasons.

Because they dont diminish the quality of the product either. In a situation where everything remains neutral, id pick the one that keeps the eye candy. Your posting wouldnt change with a blank avatar, but i like looking at the hot girl.

They do improve the quality of the product, for many of those in attendance at least. It's part of the spectacle. I always enjoy them, and they get paid well, it's a win win. It's like cheerleaders, neither are truly needed of course but for many they enhance the product. I respect your point too. If you don't like it, it's easily ignored, just as you do.

Of course, feminists can't just ignore it, they have to imprint themselves on everything. I'm really surprised F1 caved, it's been such a staple, and it's not like the people complaining are paying fans, or those who tune in.

Right, if they neither improve nor diminish the quality of the product then their absence changes nothing.

And my avatar actually does matter to my posting to me. I'm sure I've mentioned in the past that my avatar is a compromise between my wife and myself regarding my refusal to keep family pictures on my desk at work. Long story, not germane to this thread except to the limited point that my avatar actually serves a purpose re: my presence on Sherdog.
 
If your sport needs cheerleaders to keep your fans entertained, your sport is boring.
