Violence/Genocide: Do not condone violence or genocide on a person or group of people. You are free to attack a person or groups ideas but you are crossing the line when calling for violence. This will be heavily enforced in threads with breaking news involving victims.

when you consider the mass surveillance of people, then see that the other day a guy went on a killing spree after uploading youtube videos and a manifesto detailing his plan, you kinda have to wonder what the point is.

That's less than a 1% chance if these are all US citizens. Is this the complete list of the majority of it?

All the tech in the world doesn't matter if they aren't able to look at the details. Much of this project casts too wide a net and then uses that as justification for why no warranty is needed and no rights are abused. My guess is they think they can perfect the system in a couple of years with algorithms determined by what people do online or what calls they make.

Without trying to come off like a conspiracy theorist, at the moment I don't think anyone really cares about whats online unless its cutting someones profit margins.

He didnt fit the profile, the NSA uses the same keywords the IRS does: Tea Party, Patriot, Constitution.

Not for nothing, but this "spying" probably consists of you posting some crazy stuff on social media of some sort, and some program the tracks key words sent your info along. The Government truely does not care what joe schome civilian is doing

No I think they do, I just think in general the internet watchdogs are more concerned with piracy, copyright infringement, insider trading type stuff etc.

Greenwald basically lucked into the story via Snowden's insistence that he be the one to do it. All he has to do is publish the info that Snowden gave him.

Still, he should be rightfully commended for publishing it. Wonder if he'll be allowed back into the States once he does though.
