Great fighters who started in Judo?

Don’t really know these names to be honest.

Should I know these guys? Who is propably most famous out of them?

Wow. Well, fair play for admitting you don't know.

Yoshida was by far the most successful in terms of money and fame. Guy was huge in Japan in the early to mid-2000's. TK was probably the best overall fighter. Nakamura had some decent wins but was just kind of a meh fighter at the end of the day.

Started watching mma 10 years ago, become more of a diehard fan 5.

But there’s a shit load of fights to watch and I’m late to the party.

Yoshida was a star in Pride.

Nakamura was a bad ass, linked to Yoshida, made his name in Pride too

Oleg Taktarov had a sambo & judo background, jus´like Fedor.

TK [Kohsaka] might be forgotten these days, but his historical relevance in the transitional era from the NHB/Vale Tudo days to Modern MMA, is legit: built one of the very 1st modern teams along with Maurice & Frank [Team Alliance]... all about cross-training...

Watched an old Karo Parisyan fight. The arm throw he did in that fight was pretty incredible.

Got me thinking about many fighters that started in Judo.

I feel most start in wrestling or BJJ.

Are there any great fighters that started out in Judo?
from the original RTT [Russian Top Team], some legit judokas:

Suren Balachinskiy
Yuriy Kochkine
Fedor

Nakamura still beat Randleman,Kondo,Busta,Igor...no small feat imo...

Prime Karo had some awesome grappling wars

Diego, Nick and GSP fights were all awesome
If You could go back in time and Bring Karo a strength and conditioning coach and sports psychologist he would have been truly amazing.

I like how Karo throws that Fedor type looping right hand which misses but his momentum keeps going which allows perfect position for the throw. Textbook stuff.

I remember spike commercials playing "this is a man's world" while showing Karo loose a tooth when Diego kneed him. Good times.

Paulo Filho started in judo before taking bjj

Do you guys agree with Fedor starting in Judo over Sambo?

Amar Suloev had legit good throws, cant confirm if he indeed started judo 1st...
