Great defense by Knight

Yeah, he was doing well until they got back to the feet. Then Lamas pounced and Knight wasn't ready for it. I know he was tired, but that was a huge mistake.

He beat the hell out Ricardo's hands with his face.

Knight hurried back to the feet without creating smart, safe distance. He was up against the fence for Lamas to freely swing on.

It was bizarre watching him stand up and stand there with his hands down

Hick Diaz, holy shit that is fucking hysterical

Yeah, just leave your hands down to your side while he tees off on your face. No need to guard your chin.

The skill level gap was too big.

This fight should not have happened to begin with.

Not sure if the "skill level gap" was too big, Knights pretty skilled and was giving Lamas fits off his back. The fight never really settled in and it ended early, but when Knight got back to his feet he stood squared up, with his back turned away from Lamas and his hands down he ate a punch he didn't see coming and was rocked pretty badly due his lack of defense (which he's showed a lack of defense and paid for it in all of his fights, he's just been able to battle through it but tonight was different). Credit to Lamas seeing that, staying on him and not letting the tough Mississippian recover.

Knights only 24, he's 18-3 (or 20-3 according to the UFC). He has some relevant wins already....the biggest hole in Knights game has always been his lack of defense and footwork, anyone who knows anything about fighting could see that...he's relied on his chin and grit to get away with it but that shit won't fly at the higher levels, I hope he goes and works with different gyms and with different coaches he needs to learn to loosen up in the pocket (he's stiff and squares his shoulders), roll with punches, block, cover up, counter and be overall more defensively aware. He also really needs to work on his footwork, his feet are often coming up off the mat when he punches, he's often off balance when throwing strikes, out of position, out of range etc. If he can work on these things and improve, he has everything it takes to beat a guy like Lamas and he's shown it. Probably was a bit too much of a step up, but sometimes guys just don't learn until they get beaten up for their mistakes.
