I see many threads on the sherdog indicating Gray Maynard being a real threat to Bendo due to his punching power.. Where is it?

The guy has 1 self KO and 2 (T)KO victories, he has 8 decision victories, 3 of which were split decisions.

Sure he knocked down Edgar a few times, but in general I think his "power" is greatly overrated. He wings wandy type punches but rarely connects.

All of those Bendo haterz out there will have to look somewhere else for their savior, and there is only one man who has proven himself able to take belts from Benson.

maynard is a serious threat to anyone he fights.
he is as strong if not stronger than bendo (i still pick bendo to win)
but to say he isnt a threat is pretty laffable.

He has a 9 second knockout and if Frankie wasn't Rocky in MMA form he would have had 2 more. His striking has gotten a lot better in my opinion its too bad Guida was too scared to let him showcase it. I still think Bendo beats him his biggest threat is without a doubt the last man to beat him
WAR Showtime!

I'm a Ben Henderson fan, but Maynard DOES have power. He doesn't have that many (T)KO's on his record because for most of his career he has been more of a wrestler. Wasn't that confident in his hands. Recently though, he's been striking more and more, and has been showing that not only does he have power, but he has decent overall striking as well. He has great timing, and mixes up his striking nicely. It's not like Frankie is easy to tag or something. BJ Penn couldn't do it, Bendo couldn't do it (besides with an upkick)

Gray has shown his power, knocked down Frankie repeatedly, created an alien on Clay Guidas eye from the few times (because of Guidas running) he landed in that fight.

Dude he has a great chin and he KO'd himself, he obviously has good hands

Gray has KO power but doesnt use it.

Like Mike Pierce.

They're more content to completely grind out guys instead of utilize their KO power.

Hendricks too, until recently.

After seeing how effective Benson is with his calf kicks against Edgar and Diaz I don't see Maynard being in effective punching range too often, so I don't think his power will have a lot of influence over the fight.

Maynard has power. Having power and being able to KO people are two different things. With more refinement, Maynard can KO anyone at LW. Raw power has less to do with KOs than many people think.

Guys like Guida, Edgar, Miller, Diaz, Florian, and Siver are hard to KO.

I'll second that.

He's rocked, dropped, or KO'd practically all of his opponents. The people he hasn't KO'd are known for a good chin and durability.

As has been said, he has raw power and is starting to develop as a striker technique-wise.

lol @ "The people he hasn't KO'd" Again, 1 KO in the UFC. The problem is people act ad if he will KO people in the future, when he has not KO'd people in the past. It's insanity.

I guess he'll have to fall back to his wrestling.

I see more people speculating that he will hurt his opponents than anything.

Only lead up to a fight where I saw alot of people predicting him KO someone was for the Edgar rematch and that largely had to do with what happened in their first fight which was reasonable.

Maynard has knocked down/rocked Edgar, Diaz, Jim Miller, Ken Florian, Clay Guida, Roger Huerta and holds the UFC LW record for fastest KO at 9 seconds.
Maynard has lost one fight.
You would do better by just admitting you're a hater and, maybe, attack his personality.
Maynard's resume is as good or better than anyone in the Division.
Good try though, sport.

Where did this moron come from, the twilight zone?

If Gray doesn't adjust his gameplan from his last few fights, where he basically stands and waits, then Benson would probably make it look easy.

Fight finder probably doesn't describe what he did to Frankie, does it?

The"insanity" is not acknowledging that Maynard has effective striking. Watch a fight!

"stands and waits"? Yeah, sure. Maynard chased Guida all over the Octagon. Do people even watch fights? Or do they just develop a habit of saying obtuse things.
