So the main grappling/takedown techniques used in MMA are
BJJ
Wrestling
Judo
Sambo
I was wondering if people could discuss about what techniques are seemed not as much applicable in MMA. I am sure some purists will come in and defend/argue specific techniques. This can be a good place to discuss those.
For starters all the Gi related techniques are deemed not applicable in MMA (because of the lack of gi). Although I do believe it helps fighters improve their ground game and make it more technical.
With wrestling a lot of ankle picks are really hard to get because of the strikes.
Also a with Judo a few gi throws have to substituted by an over under clinch or something similar. Let me know what you guys think.
Similar post in the stand up section also for boxing, muay thai etc.
