Alright, I thought I'd do a little survey.

It's fairly obvious training backround influences MMA organization preferences. I'd like to know what grapplers of what styles prefer what org.

I am primarily a BJJer and I prefer watching Pride due to the time which they allow on the ground. Their divisions are also stacked with high level grapplers :D.

Pride as well. I like the times and that they pull the fighters to center instead of being driven into a fence. They do seem to have more variety in their fighters also. I like the UFC professionalism more though. Champs usually fight top contenders more and there are less 'spectacle' matches. (tho they can be interesting)

Pride. I prefer the ring and respect to grappling shown by the rules and audience. I don't have any serious problems with UFC or a cage in general but, forced to chose, I would pick Pride.

that really slipped my mind, the level of respect that the Japanese audience gives to grappling is significant.

I like PRIDE more because I feel they have better fighters compared to UFC.

i like them all, i like to see diffrent styles... it's not about org. for me it is about fighters themselfs, i would go to and promotions to watch a fight, big or small

The ring is better suitable for grappling. Not as extreme as the ufc are begining to become with the standup rule..

In the end though its all about the fighters..

yes, but to find out which organization people preferred while eluding the inevitable pride > ufc.. so I didn't mention skill level of fighters :D haha

UFC, these guys I think are better all around fighters. Which is evidenced by the fact that ant UFC wash outs have done well in PRIDE

It goes either way. Look at Chuck Liddell or Vitor Belfort.

PRIDE washouts have done well in UFC, too. In some cases, became contenders.

PRIDE for me, obviously.

My reason as well ^^^ ... when i watch any other organization and i hear the boo's of the crowd because of the lack of striking or whatever it is that causes idiots to boo really pisses me off ... if all they want is standing go watch boxing

So in short ... Pride

Pride, because they allow the gi still, and are willing to put Olympic Judoka into ring.

i generally follow the fighters more than the org. i was just about as excited for hughes/bj as i was for the finals of the OWGP.

the only thing that irks me about UFC is the cage. it fucks up the grappling and makes it hard to cut off the ring...imo one of the reasons chuck is so successful there...its hard for people to corner him and force him into a clinch.

Pride, on the other hand, will occassionally really piss me off with stupid fucking matches and hanging onto mediocre fighters for waaaaayyyyy too long. i mean, get rid of minowa already...seriously. Also pride does a shitty job of building up fighters, totally runs some fighters into the ground while babying others. look at how pride nearly killed sakuraba with such frequent matches against monstrous opponents while wanderlei killed 185 pound cans for years.

Quoted for truth.. I have enjoyed more Pride PPV's this year but yesterday's main event is the best fight I've ever seen.. EVER! BJ Penn really fucking surprised me with how awesome he did. Wow... I am still shocked.

I Like Prdie but I feel that they dont allow any more or less time on the ground as UFC.

I think the reason I enjoy pride is the same as most of you, The FANS..they know striking they know grappling they cheer for both and really help the atmosphere.

IMO, they take into account who is fighting when deciding to bring it back to the feet or not. minowa took a nap on baroni for 15 minutes. yosh got more snuggle time with wanderlei than wandy's wife usually gets...then i see yellow cards coming out during action packed fights for no reason.

ah, another reason i dislike pride....favoritism.

Japanese organizations in general. I love PRIDE, but colin made some great points about the disadvantages. We shouldn't forget Shooto, DEEP, ZST, and GCM.
