Does anyone know of a good site that lists or shows some olympic caliber wrestlers or judokas routines? Or any high level grapplers? Do they use olympic lifts, powerlifts, and the like?

BTW I did look at the stickies and this didn't seem to fall under any of the topics. :D

jeff monson trains with the guys at www.intocombat.com

ive heard from a guy on t-nation who was in the Sambo Worlds that alot of high level sambo guys go it "old-school, bodyweight and kettlebells" (his quote).

I've looked into the intocombat guys for awhile but am hesitant to buy anything from them. For one, they're prices for each course is 54 dollars on average and each section has 2 or 3 videos or books in it. The sample videos show a lot of equipment being used as well. I'm looking for some acutal training methods of the "pros" because most people on here are armchair experts or theorists with no real experience or credentials. But I do appreciate both your guy's input.

oh, for sure dont buy it. i have the no-gi one, and all it is is circuit training with some specific exercises for the guard and picking people up off the ground. the amount of rare equipment you would need if you wanted to do the workout exactly as-is is ridiculous.

Mostly barbell complexes and circuits for grapplers. Off season training would be focusin on strength with the powerlifs and olympic lift variants

Are you saying this in all seriousness and no sarcasm? Hard to tell on the internet.

This is from Steve Maxwell, BJJ Black Belt and Champion (pan-ams and worlds). He also trains Xande and Saulo Ribeiro (also BJJ champs). His wife and son are also BJJ champs (wife is also a world champ).

I've read a lot of the guy's posts over at dragondoor, he always says train supplementally for 2 days a week (1 if you're busy or drained from your training). Always goes with circuit training -- front squat to shoulder press, hindu push-ups, rope climbing, sledgehammer work, occasionally sport specific stuff -- judo throws with bungies, etc.. Workouts are short, 15-30 minutes, but brutal. I suppose the goal is to get used to working out as hard as possible so you don't gas and are strong on the mat. And for the leg workouts, kettlebells aren't important, use dumbbells if you want to try them out.

And this is his general plan for organizing your training for a competition:

Gpp is general physical preperation (getting the whole body fit, general fitness)
Spp is specific physical preperation (getting your body ready for the specific demands of your sport)

yeah seriously, no sarcasm.

edit:

just for fun, im gonna watch the first circuit right now and list all the equipment you need as he does it.

1. dumbells
2. sleeve hanging from pullup bar, strong enough to hold your bodyweight
3. stretchbands
4. medicine ball attached to a bungee cord (not making this up)
5. medicine ball
6. thick stretchband attached to a sleeve, similar to #2

thats for circuit number 1.

Intocombat is more like interesting ideas and concepts than actual workout you would perform unless you try and build some funky "sportspecific" gym. Still I have got stuff from the 3 vids I have watched from them (gi, no-gi, mma)... But I would not pay any money for them thats all I am saying...;)

I thought intocombat would be good based on that Rhadi was a 2004 Olympian. That may even be the way he trained, but the cost of videos and equipment seems like it would get expensive real quick. Awhile ago I was going to buy their Bodyweight workout tape, yet again they have 2 of them for $54 each and a book equally as pricey. I wouldn't say that I know all there is to bodyweight exercises but I'd be hesitant to spend over $150 on those 3 products and just watch a bunch of things I already know. Has anyone bought the bodyweight workouts?

How about Bas' workout dvd's and cd's?
