Hey,

I'll be participating in my first BJJ tourny this weekend, Grapplers Inc. I was curious if anyone here has attending their tournaments before, and if they have any idea what kind of tournout I should be expecting. I'm in the under 147lbs No Gi and 154lbs Gi divisions.

Thanks

I attended their first (only to this point) tournament last September. It was well run.

I competed in 134 lb no-gi and 141 lb gi (white belt). no-gi was only 6 people, but gi was more like 10 (I lost in the first round of the gi, so I'm not sure). I imagine your division will be a little bigger than mine was, since it's tough for most adult males to make 134/141.

Of course I imagine you can always just e-mail Tim Shears and ask him how many people are signed up for your division.

Generally good turnout in those divisions. Of course if you're in the whitebelt/beginner divisions there will likely be more t han in the blue/purple divisions.

Grapplers Inc and Sub Series are generally ran very well.

I'm really looking forward to the day, i'll be there volunteering. The superfights will be AWESOME!

Thanks. I was planning on emailing him, I just figured I'd likely get a quicker reply if I asked here, and I'm sure I did. Thanks again.

For those in the area who don't know about this tourney, it would be worth attending to just watch.

6 mats for competitors.
Gi and Nogi action.

An Open Rank and Open weight Super Gi Challenge division, with the winner getting airfare and registration to the Mundials.

2 Superfights.

Black Belt Super Fight:

Josh Russell - Gracie Barra Calgary Ab. vs Harold Utterback - Gracie Humaita/Team Megaton Eugene Or.

Brown Belt Super Fight:

Logan Lidemark - Gracie Barra Vancouver vs Todd Smith - Marcus Soares/Dynamic MMA.

Should be a good day of competition!

Hey kaboom, I'm assuming from the logo you train at GB Vancouver. Do you know if the official scales are set up yet at your guys' academy? I wanted to weigh myself on the official scale to make sure I'm on target.

I'm going down this weekend to. Its also my first tournament. Does anyone know, will there be a scale there you can check your weight on, before your division actually weights in?

I bunch of guys from my gym will be going. I am gonna skip this one, though. I am not in good enough grappling shape to compete yet. Looks like it will be a good tourney.

The official scale is at our club, call tim to ask when would be best to stop by.

And yes wrestler, there is going to be a scale that you can check your weight on ahead of time. it should be available from the very start of the day, this is how it was for the past tourneys.

white belt light, no gi inter open weight, open belt/open weight, here.

See you guys there, Injury is keeping me off the mats but I'll be there to hang out.

and im in.. see you all int eh white belt 194lbs and the open weight division.
