I just saw this on another forum........

From: The Gracies and the birth of Vale Tudo

FIGHT BY FIGHT THEY CONQUERED THE WORLD

In 1914, a small Brazilian man named Carlos Gracie learned the forbidden secrets of Jiu-Jitsu, a martial art developed by the warrior classes of Japan throughout the centuries.

    I can't wait for it.

I am also hoping that they will sell the translated book about Carlos Gracie as well.

Hopefully they show some of the epic battles of Helio during his Vale Tudo days. I heard one of his fights went like 90 minutes or some shit.

Is there an ETA release date, or is it still unknown. I am guessing it will be limited release in theaters?

Rorion and Royce did fight choreography with Mel for one of the Lethal Weapon movies. That's the only connection I can think of.

Humble origins on the streets of Brazil? Nothing about the Gracies has been "humble" or from the "streets", imo. am i wrong?

That's part of what I was thinking. Weren't they upper class? I am wondering if this is more exaggeration.

2 ways to look at this, as a martial history of the Gracie family and GJJ to be treasured or more hype. I do have to give SOME credit though. I think I read "70 years of NEARLY undefeated...." or something like that. 20 years ago it was "undefeated for 60 years" or something like that.

I am torn, is it more self glorification or real stuff?

"The forbidden secrets of Jiu-Jitsu, a martial art developed by the warrior classes of Japan"

    *sigh*

Why do the Gracies allways claim to been taught some secret-samurai form of jujutsu?

Its insulting how they give almost no credit to Kodokan Judo.

The more I explore in Judo/Jiu-Jitsu the less I believe what the Gracies say.
