A lot of people have been unhappy with Gracie Barra's uniforms and equipment. I've had terrible experiences with their gis (a lot of others I know have too) and people have had worse experiences with the rashguards... I was recently told that GB will be getting a new company to make these, can anyone confirm this? has anyone at least heard of this rumor?

Which company makes them now? Didn't Atama make GB Gis before?

Rash guards are Manto and IMO are excellent. Gi's definitely need some work in all honesty.

My GB gi ripped a big hole during practice on Monday.

I only had it for 5 months.

i've had my gi for over a year and a half, no tears so i'm happy with it

Yes, there was news of new Gis coming late last year. Should be here soon.

There's a new line of Nogi brand grappling shorts coming out soon too.

I have one of the Manto training tank tops and it's pretty good.

Haven't heard about new gi's but I hope so. The current GB gis are not great. The jacket is fine (except the patches come off too easily) but I don't care for the pants, they're too soft, the drawstring gets snagged inside the waist making them hard to tighten and tie, and they get all saggy and baggy as soon as I start sweating. And the sizes are weird, I wear an A4 in Atama, but an A3 GB signature gi is baggy on me?

There's no reason why a GB gi that's made in China should cost anywhere from $130-$180, in my opinion. If they're going to make them cheaply AND require you to buy them, they should sell them cheaply too. Especially since they seem to wear out quickly. I'm not buying any more GB gis unless the quality improves significantly.

Oh, and my belt isn't GB but the GB belts look pretty flimsy too.

They're made in China now. They stopped having Atama make them like 4-5 years ago or something.

i don't have any comment for gracie barra or their gi's since i have no firsthand experience with them & their gi's, but i will say that if they're charging $130-$180 for a cheap made in china gi, i think that's excessive. although, of course i know it's a financial thing to keep the school profitable and operating.

I'm convinced that at least half the cost of the gi is in the patches.

I have seen the gb belts from the us and they looked cheap as heck. I have a gb belt from gb in rio and it's freaking stout. Sometimes I think too thick bc it constantly comes untied, haha. I had a gb gi like 4 years ago (direct from rio) and it was keiko raca back then. It lasted for about 2.5 years then ripped but it shrunk like a mofo too. Alot of the gb schools in the Houston area are based on gameness gis, which I've had 3 of and have lasted great. So, unsure if the gb guys locally have the china gis or not.

The current GB gis don't hold up that well. I have had a couple fall apart on me in under 1 year of use. The basic pants are also not that durable. I have ripped at least 6 pairs of training partners pants in the last 12 months and I am by no means a giant beast. I will be looking forward to a more quality GB gi, until then I just buy the cheapest one they sell, preferably when I can get it for half-price during XYZ promotion.

I have one GB competition GI, its pretty good, I love the thick ass collar, its not that hot, pretty durable I will say, now, the pants are long gone... I will be getting 2 more Gis, and sure as hell arent going to be GBs... I have one that will stick with me for as long as it can be worn, for seminars and GB stuff... but only for that.

^They make black Gracie Barra gis?

before our school required you wear a blue or white GB gi i saw people in blue, white, yellow, black and i think even red.

anyway i only inquired about the gi's my school offered after the uniform change so i don't know if people were buying the different colors directly from GB, our school, or having the patches sewn on themselves... Ill ask if you like next time i train.

I guess back when Keiko or Atama or whoever else made the GB gis, they had more colors. Now they just have white, blue, and hot pink for girls, which I find rather sexist.

GB gis suck ! There shorts suck! The "new ones" shorts are 65$ !
It's a business ,that being sed Why Not put out a little beter quality gear ?

Just if anything to "not look like a Douch company " ! Give us a break please :(
