Like the title says I got my purple belt and well I am very happy about it of course. I kinda knew it was coming because my professor had hinted at it but now its true. I will try my best to represent it well but I kind of feel a bit nervous about it. At blue I was super happy but I felt a blue belt was "nothing" but now ppl expect a purple to kick ass and know alot. At the same time i am excited to continue training and improving.

For the usual questions ive been training around 3 years and 3-4 months total about 3 times a week. I watch instructionnal / matchs often like most ppl on here and I feel it helped me get better faster. It may be a bit fast I dont know, I will trust my professor and just do my best.

congrats, 3 times a week isn't really too much considering you got it in 3 years. Pretty fast, did you dominate the blue belt brackets in tournaments?

Wow, 3 years and 4 months seems fast to me. You must be really good.

Congrats!

Great job, keep up the hard work.

I don't wanna get too personal if you don't want to, but at least what affiliation are you?

i wanna be just like u one day (no sarcasm intended)

congrats fellow sherdoggistarian

Congrats on the belt man, I'm sure you worked hard for it.
About your nervousness, I think it was summarized best in Jiu Jitsu University by Saulo Riberio, the most important thing about the purple belt is belief in your rank. Refine your game as much as you can and adopt new techniques as you find ways to work them in. Its also important to remember your responsibility to the lower belts, as a purple a lot of your teammates will look up to you and you should help them grow as much as you can

Watch out for all of the nagging injuries that will suddenly pop up. I've had more injuries in the 6 months I've been a purple than in the entire 3 years before that.

Congrats man ... I'm hard at work pushing towards mine now

Congrats!

And I'm sorry to say, but BJJ or any form of grappling is possibly the worst thing to use against a zombie. Invest in a machete or crowbar :icon_lol:
