GOP: It’s a ‘fact’ kids were molested and discovered drugs because teachers went on 1-day strike

I never see the right pandering to voters by trying to make them feel bad for billionaires. Their policies CAN benefit billionaires, no doubt, but thats not gaining them any voters.

What do you think the whole point of the fair tax plan is?

If you weren't such a mindless partisan it would be completely obvious that this is a tactic both parties use. If you weren't such a mindless partisan you wouldn't immediately take the words of one man to be a reflection upon every Republican. That's how irrational prejudice is born. Please attempt to use that logic anywhere else in life, and you'll see how embarrassingly it fails time and time again.

So how many idiotic or downright batshit insane things are republicans allowed to say before we move past the "well it´s just one guy" defense? Because the list is pretty damn long.

In August 1985, 19 record companies agreed to put "Parental Guidance: Explicit Lyrics" labels on albums to warn consumers of explicit lyrical content. Before the labels could be put into place, the Senate agreed to hold a hearing on so-called "porn rock". This began on September 19, 1985, when representatives from the PMRC, three musicians—Dee Snider, Frank Zappa, John Denver—and Senators Paula Hawkins and Al Gore testified before the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee on "the subject of the content of certain sound recordings and suggestions that recording packages be labeled to provide a warning to prospective purchasers of sexually explicit or other potentially offensive content."

Guy, his wife was the founder of the PMRC. You think Gore had nothing to do with the Senate hearings?

That label was like a giant "buy me" sign lol.

I hope the teachers don't get away with what they did.

Oh no. A politician used hyperbole.

If only it was a Democrat using left-wing hyperbole. Then it would be a republican guy posting the thread and it would be the left-wing coming in on defense.

Rinse, then repeat.

Let's all get hyper about it.

Let's just be a little less specific and conclude that in general, large groups of humans on the same "team" are batshit. I'm with you on that.

Ok now what?

Emotional blackmail. "Don't strike or kids will definitely get raped."

True and I hate to use the "but, but" argument....but "if you don't support gun control you're a child murderer"

That’s a great question and I’ll answer it. The answer is through objectivity. Objectivity is partly about perspective. Your perspective Is located deep within the interests of a particular group, which puts you in one of the worst positions to make an objective assessment. You can’t see clearly from your point of view.

The only option for people in your position is to rely exclusively on external standards of measurement to compensate for your compromised position, which you yourself can’t even see the effects of. Right now the only “standard” that you’re using is simply the certainty of belief that you are right, and whatever you conclude on your own is relevant.

Such intellectual poverty - attributing the absolute worst, one in million outcome to anything your opposition does.

So you support child rape?

Jk......cracks me up that they're using a tactic like this.

People will probably respond with 'hurry and give them what they want' instead of 'let the strike continue.'

That is a very reasonable opinion. I, too, an going to use it to explain how people who disagree with me are wrong.

Sure they do, there's evidence right here in this thread:

Teachers aren't allowed to strike up here in Maine. I think I agree with that.

The right has long attempted to convince the American public that only capital should have the ability to pool resources and organize. You perfectly illustrate that indoctrinated sentiment in the above quote.

I sure am glad politicians and other fragile cupcakes aren't going way over the top with sky-high rhetoric these days.
Nothing but restraint and careful, thoughtful dialogue and bridge building

I like how the highest ranking state politician in an area is holding others responsible for indirect, unverified consequences when he (as a byproduct of his office) is going to indirectly harm far more people through his policies regardless of what they are. What a doofus.
"You're not the victim here, I am!!"
