I've been getting by with an Under Armour heat-something-or-other as my under-gi rashguard for BJJ for the last couple weeks now, but washing it after every class is, I'm sure, shortening its lifespan.

So I figure I should invest in a few other rashguards. Is there an online store that specializes in these, so I can try a few different price points and see what works best? I'm ordering a new Gi in the coming weeks too, but all the rashguards on the sites I've gone to are either extremely expensive (over $60) or out of stock.

Any other pointers regarding rashguard purchases would be appreciated too. I'm pretty much a newbie.

mmahq and bjjhq have lots of good deals. Just check those sites every day

Check out surfing shops. $20 or so. F getting robbed on a $60 rash guard because it's for "MMA".

I was under the impression that surfing rash guards are made to keep body heat in which is the opposite of what you want from a BJJ rash guard.

I've got a Scramble, Manto and Bad Boy rashie for $30-35 each including shipping from MMAHQ and BJJHQ

Baseball performance shirts are EXACTLY the same as MMA rashguards at half the cost.

The heck i bought a "mizuno rashguard" at a gi company and it had a baseball undershirt tag i was like "So why it was so cheap" after trying its my favorite rashguard in comfort and the capability to keep dry, i use it a lot and no wear or tear, its almost 95% polyester (microfiber i assume) so im pretty sure it will last forever unless i put it in hot water.

This is what I'd read as well, hence why I've avoided some of the cheaper-looking alternatives out there. I'll probably try some of the cheaper Wal-Mart-ish alternatives though before putting a lot of money into another one.

Surf rashguards have big logos on the back that stick to the mat. I go to Ross or Mervins for cheap rashguards and fight shorts.

You should be washing it after every wear anyways. Go for a run with compression clothing on, wash that sh!t!

Marshalls compression shirts, 10-12 bucks each. Plain, no designs, but gets the job done.

If you bought a MMA rash guard prior to around 07, it was likely a surfing rashie with a MMA gear logo on it.

The newer stuff is way too thin for my liking.

my really thin Hayabusa Mizuchi's stitches are already coming off, and I've only had it for 6 months. I guess it's coz I use it often? But then again rashguard I got from TapCancerOut.org which I think was made by Origin is still intact. It's got thicker material to it as well.

Marshalls. Just picked up 5 nike pro combat rashgaurds retailed at 60$ a piece for 60$ total this week. there are also alot of other brands there.

You picked up compression shirts, not rash guards.

There is a difference, but most people seem to not care, or notice.

But yes, compression shirts at discount places are cheap and great for use under a gi. They just don't hold up to no-gi over the long run.

yeah youre missing something...

washing 1 rashie after 4 classes/week, 4 weeks a month = 16 washes per rashie
washing 2 rashies after 4 classes/week, 4 weeks a month = 8 washes per rashie

So just to clarify, is it acceptable to hang dry a rashguard worn on say Tuesday, until a class on Friday, wear it, then wash it with a second rashguard worn on Wednesday and Saturday?

Or one wear, one wash is the norm? The UA I have now doesn't really stink after class, but I'm thinking wash it for the bacteria and the like.

I hope you are kidding.
