is this a good mouthguard to help protect ur mouth and jaw in MMA?

lol you should ask before you buay a mouthguard :icon_chee :icon_chee

Shockdoc = Crap, i hate my shockdoctor, right now he doctor has left the building.

if you're going to be competing in mma then think about going with a custom mouthguard. they are more expensive than a boil 'n bite, but they offer much more comfort and above all protection. check out protech and if you're from canada then check out smartguards.

thanks for the links but this mouthguard is only for training and sparring thats why i dont need a good one.

btw im havint trouble with the mouthguard, it wont stick on my upper teeth and keeps falling off when i attempt to close my mouth

Dear guy who likes anime,

Yeah that's a big drawback of bnb is that they're dodgy when it comes to the fit so you're gonna have to get used to it and clench or get a new guard and try to redo the bite/re-boil it and try the bite again....though if you fuck up the suction/hold we'll probably be even worse. Good luck.

PS: Where the hell is the new bnb's Tom was working on?

i think i already fucked up the suction/hoil. i reboiled it around 20 times now...

I take it sparring involves getting hit, possibly in the face? I know I'd like to protect my teeth if that was the case.

That's the problem with boil and bites, they just don't fit very well at all.

Boil n Bites are good for jogging, in that they restrict air-flow and make you work harder to run, simulating sparring/fighting/competition with a REAL mouthguard...

...other than that, yeah, you shoulda bought a $5 from Target instead...

-opro
-smartguards
-protech

...and whatever companies I have omitted, you should invest in your hobbies adequately.

for sparring we obviously aint gonna use full force and we're wearing headgears as well

It doesn't really take much to break something. You just have to be hit the wrong way. Couple that with concussion risks.

Doesn't matter if you're wearing headgear. I wore a helmet with a cage in hockey and if I got caught in the chin, it'd just drive the cage up into my face. Same thing can happen. You need adequate, specialised protection

There must be somthing wrong with my cheapy mouthguard because for some odd reason it works great when it comes to sticking to my top teeth and the damn thing is super comfy.
I doubt it will protect as well as a custom guard but, since child support is now draining my once hefty paycheck I will be using my cheapy guard for the next 14 years. :icon_sad: Well, there is always xmas.:icon_chee

Not trying to come down on you, but I had the Power Ultra also and it fucking sucks IMHO. If you can find the SD Pro, get it:

http://www.shockdoctor.com/mouthguards/pro.html

Only $5, can be purchased at most retail sporting goods stores, and fits waaaay better.

For competition you will need a high quality custom guard. Searchie for more info on that.

They've already been released somewhere. Someoen's already done a review on them

Forget Opro imo they are crap. Spend the extra $40 and get a Protech it's well worth it.
