I thot Okami was more known for his overall brawn rather than 'power' per se

Yeah he is a grappling especialist but his power was pretty underrated as well. Not a one punch KO kind of power but certainly a heavy hitter.
Sato has obviously a better left hand though, it's his main weapon.

The comparison is between Sato an Okami. Both are WW.

Boetsch is indeed a MW, a very big one actually, and thats exactly my point. It's not the same to show power against a low level WW than a huge MW known for a his epic chin.
Gotcha man. I wasn't sure if Tim made another transition down. I know he came into the UFC as a LHW

The Okami comparison is legit. Sato likes to throw alot of straight punches. He's a little stiff, but he has good fundamentals.

I can see it but they are fairly different. While they both fight from a wide southpaw stance and mostly shoot straights, Sato is a natural lefty and a more natural striker while Okami is a right handed heavy clincher who barely shoots his left and does most of his work in the striking with the lead hand.

It's not because Okami made the crazy cut to WW a few times that he's a WW. Okami is a true MW while Sato is a true WW. Okami also fought at LHW.

I know Joe Rogan used to say "that guy is huuuuge" in every single one of his fights but here you have some facts:

- Okami has fought plenty of times at WW, before and after UFC. Has fought at WW about as much as he did at MW in his career. He has even made the cut for a Pancrase or DEEP payday not that long ago. A guy with his reputation doesnt have the need to do so if it was such a crazy cut. Could get paid exactly the same fighting at MW in those promotions.

- Okami used to walk around at 190lbs when he got in UFC, as a MW. He did cut like 5-10 lbs to fight Rich Franklin. That's about same natural weight than Takashi Sato, who you call "a true WW"

- Okami fought at LHW and Mike Swick too. Kenny Florian fought at MW, Henderson at HW....Minowa at openweight...
Okami fought at LHW because got offered big money to fill in a main event in short notice. That's it. He weighted in for that LHW bout at 200lbs without a traning camp and without cutting weight. Many modern WWs weight around heavier than that.

- Okami has never missed weight.

That's probably because he has some traditional Karate education or in Japan spars with a lot of Karate guys and adopted the style. His upright stance was a Karate stance and the way he dedicated to the jab and then covered a lot of distance by sliding forward with a rear cross is typical Kizami-Gyaku-Zuki Combo from traditional Karate. This style has a lot of straight punches with the disadvantages to be a bit vulnerable against a good counter boxer/kickboxer who has nice hooks but those Karate combinations are sniper shots and very quick/explosive.
