Personally, get the VIP Universal tour. It sounds fancy but it's hours and hours of entertainment and you're front of line for all the rides. You get to see loads of the sets and behind the scenes stuff. I loved it.

There are tons of music venues. My faves are the troubadour and the wiltern. On sunset alone theres always a bunch of concerts every nightm
Personally I love sunset and vine. I can spend hours at amoeba and watch movies at arclight. Hollywood blvd has plenty of little gems/stores
Santa monica third street and the pier.
Yelp restaurants to ur tastes, LA has tons of great food
The Grove is a nice outdoor shopping place.

I second Griffith Observatory. It is one of my favorite places.
