I like to be social, but I live in Japan and smoking is legal in public places, bars, clubs, restaurants etc.

I can't stand people smoking around me, especially when there is a small room of chain-smoking salarymen, it just becomes cloudy with smoke, it's disgusting ... It gets in my hair, my skin, clothes and if I'm wearing wool, it means I have to go and get my shit dry-cleaned!! So, I avoid going out sometimes because of that.

But, then I don't have a social life and don't get to socialise with friends etc.

Like, people lighting up near me, just puts me in a bad mood and I feel like I can't breathe properly ... How should I keep a healthy social and deal with this barrier?

Have sex with them

Have sex with them

tell them japs to butt out or get knocked the fuck out

Wtf double post

I just stop going to places that permit smoking as often.

I enjoy poker and jazz, so when I lived in Canada, it's illegal to smoke in them and I had fun, but once I moved, especially clubs, I had to stop going there as often because I can't stand second hand smoke.

True.
My friend was telling me about some craft beer places in Tokyo ... and you are not allowed to smoke there, maybe I should try them out!

Breathe through your mouth.

I smoke and I'm glad they banned smoking in bars and such. I'd rather everyone go outside instead of marinate in a cloud of it inside.

Its not one of your classics but at least its a new Goonerview thread

Breathing through your mouth is so bad and unhealthy for you ... I hope you're not serious, lol.
No I'm serious. It works. If you have to be in a smelly place, this will remove almost all of the smell. I'm not advising you to stop using your nose for the rest of your life. Just to get through your social events if it starts getting to you.

Also have a few dedicated outfits that are just for going to smoky places.

Breathing through your mouth is gross. I ain't doing that ... people coughing and sneezing and all of those particles going straight down your mouth ... I breath through my nose almost always, so I at least have a natural barrier at stopping those germs.

I wouldn't wear wool or anything that needs to be dry cleaned in a smoky room ... cotton and denim and stuff that can be put in a washing machine ... but, TBH, I really just don't like smokey places.

Ah you're oneathem germaphobey types. Well what can I say. Life is messy. Dive in & get you some.

Yeah, you're right, I am very germaphobic ... It is what it is.
I promise you your coffin is not going to be hermetically sealed, or wiped down with antibacterial soap. Your body is a temporary tool that is constantly growing & decaying at the same time. The clock is ticking. Don't be the guy that never took the car out of the garage.
