Elections Going forward the Democratic party can only reliably expect to dominate the black female vote and the LGBT vote

Rob face it, Trump won because America is too racist, too bigoted and too sexist to elect a strong black woman like Kamala Harris. Even Hispanics need to check their white privilege once in a while.
Is that what you think I was getting at?

I don't think so. If they're smart and move towards the center you'll see the polls shift. Good economic policies and ditching the crazies is their best bet.

Nice racism as usual, but the facts don't bear that out.

Research shows that as Latinos become more assimilated to the US (2nd, 3rd generation +), they become more conservative and vote more Republican.

Couldn't find one for Trump, but this one from 2016 tells pretty much the same story ("Language dominance" is pretty much a proxy for the immigrant/native variable. Bilingual/Spanish dominant Latinos are more likely to be immigrants, the US-born are English dominant):

So those with a "limited, 3rd world education" are the ones voting Democrat. It's those with a brilliant, 1st world American education that are falling for Trump's machismo, bravado, etc.
That was poor wording on my end, but in essence, what I'm saying is that different cultures breed different mindsets, and that holds for generations. You may have lost Spanish language ability, but your habits and values are largely from your parents and how they raised, and that's why a group like the Jews for example start off in horrible urban poverty and are wealthy in a generation, and yet a 3rd generation Chicano grows up on welfare and joins a gang. Puerto Rican's will have American citizenship and lived in America for 4 or 5 generations, speak no Spanish, and will be on section 8.

People let in a bunch of dumb motherfuckers into their country, and are surprised when their descendants are dumb motherfuckers, and I say that as my mother has a 3rd grade education from a 3rd world country, and look at how conservative (stupid, according to people who don't agree with me) I am. The poorly educated love Trump.

Not so fast. They still have white women with septum piercings who clap their hands with each syllable when they talk, dudes who wear onesie pajamas, and this sherdog lefty who likes to eat carburetors and raw meat with a full throat.

I see people stating they will change tactics, and I see others stating they will double down and just try to recapture the bernie energy in 28'

Idk, it'll be interesting either way

A lot of that's also an age thing. It's been shown that younger Latino and black men are more likely to vote Trump as compared to older black and Latino men. Pretty much an opposite of white men. Younger Latinos are also more likely to not be able to speak Spanish compared to older generations

If you look at the left today, the younger ones are either very reasonable or completely insane.

@filthybliss seems level headed for his age. Probably will be MAGA in 10 years.

On the other hand you have fat angry people like @Andy Capp who, because of their advanced age and obesity, are so bitter they can only identify with super leftist positions while having no ability to think critically for themselves at all.

They'll assimilate into the local American culture of the places they move to which could lead them going either Democrat or Republican depending on their backgrounds and the places they move to.
One thing that many are unaware of, Venezuelans and Haitians, the two groups of immigrants who've gotten the most hate as of late. From what I understand Venezuelans are actually second only to Cubans as being the Latino groups that is mostly to vote Republican. Even Haitians I have read are more likely than average black Americans of non Caribbean descent to vote Republican as well surprisingly. Don't be surprised if in 20-30 years from now the generations won't even remember all the negative stuff that was said about them from the right.

Both Cubans and Venezuelans fled failed socialist countries so that makes sense. Haven't heard that about Haitians though, my gut tells me that they're being more likely to vote Republican than American blacks says more about how committed American blacks to the Democrat party rather than Haitians being particular right leaning but I could be wrong.

There's an alternative framework I've heard where immigrants assimilate into one of two broad classes in the US, either the educated upper class(like Jews and Indians) or the less educated lower class(Hispanics). That in part why 2nd/3rd generation Hispanics have higher crime rates than their parents and grandparents just like how 2nd/3rd generation South Asians are more progressive than their forefathers.

Now in fairness that's not necessarily mutually exclusive to your framework. Its possible that their ancestral cultural values are durable across generations while at the same time they do assimilate more American values with each passing generation. The new values synthesized from their specific culture and their respective position in the US class hierarchy could then predispose these communities either to more or less success. Indians still engage in arranged marriage but in a less strict, patriarchal form.

People are going to vote with their wallets. Majority of Americans don't give a shit about either party. If the economy is bad under a Republican president then things will likely flip again.

They can't for several reason, not the least of which is that when they did try with Bernie, they already showed that they have no balls whatsoever, and it took next to nothing to get them all to completely fold like lawn chairs and fall in line and vote for whoever they're told to.

Even now when it's still pretty fresh, they can't really commit to reversing out of batshit avenue, and the best you get is a few of them taking their pronouns out of their bio. Their takeaway is that big pharma need to start advertising more on podcasts, and all the fired CNN and MSNBC hosts need to do what they're already doing, but to make it a podcast, as if it was the format and not their insane dishonesty that made nobody trust them. They still have to placate the nutjobs because that is their base.

People are drawing way too many conclusions from the election. Its good to use the opportunity to rethink policy and messaging but in some sense we should do that in response to elections happening across the country all the time and not just during the presidential cycle.

My guess is when voters perceive chaos in society they vote out incumbents. When Trump was in office and COVID happened I thought he handled it poorly but even if he handled it well I suspect he would've been voted out purely for how disruptive it all was at the time. In a two party system you can just wait for your opposition to falter from some screw up or crisis and then take advantage with no change in policy or messaging, if you think about it that's what Trump did.

Aw pathetic gotten to little man. Did someone hurt you fee fees? Craving attention?

Not that it matters since you are just making up whatever you think might get a rise out of me but there are pictures of me on this site somewhere if anyone wants to confirm that you are lying.

Lots of projection in this post. I know you're frustrated by how often you've made yourself look foolish lately but there's no need to take that out on me in the form of dumb personal attacks that are the complete opposite of reality. Sounds like you could use some fresh air.

This.

I'm watching my own government which is explicitly better at running the economy get shat on because the Murdoch press hates them and they suck at marketing themselves.

Governments around the world are facing massive swings because the only issue people care about is cost of living and they're by and large too stupid to understand global markets.

Stick to the tried and true strategy of blaming the former government for the current economic problems.

"Your situation sucks because Donald Trump printed more money than any other president in American history which causes inflation"

Doesn't matter whether it's true or not. People don't understand economics. Pick something the other side did and blame that again and again and again and again and again and again and again.

It's not like people understand big lie, how it works or who made it famous.

Connected to this:

Prior to every US general election since I started posting here, right wing/right leaning posters have complained the Democrats only want to bring in immigrants from Mexico and Central America to have more Democrat voters and after every election they crow about the proportion of those people who voted Republican.

It's not a "problem" they want to "fix". It's a talking point they push that has no meaning outside of that specific context.

Oh you just wait, after Trump is done my guess is that the pendulum will swing back even more to the far left (economically). Trumps cabinet is going to focus on bringing even more wealth from the middle class to the 1% and its going to hurt.

Democrats should just lean back and let Trump do damage, sure they have to pick the peaces up afterward but they are used to that.
"Oh you just wait..."

<Ellaria01>

Everyone likes to keep saying this but how come, as a middle class goof, my life has been so much more expensive in every measurable way under the Biden admin when I was doing just fine under Trump? I've paid considerably more taxes, literally everything costs more today. Why is it that no ones experience actually matches these political boogeyman stories?

Man — did it take you a long time to type that with a stick since your fingers are so fat or did you use voice to text?
