"Go order your purple belt" or how Maguiila got his kicks with me

So last Thursday Maguilla tells me "go order your purple belt" and I am all excited. Upgrade! So I bring him the belt this week and he says "Ok, Hang that up so you can look at it." What a cock tease...so I get to look at my belt every time I train hahaha.

 

So were you promoted to purple belt or what?? I don't completely get it.

That is a pretty good joke. I would have felt so stupid. Being pumped up like that to get shot down is one of the worst feelings. All in good fun though.

Reminds me of a class last week. If there are any gradings, the instructor waits until the end of class to hand out stripes and/or belts. This session, he calls up a guy named Matt. Everyone applauds, the instructor shakes his hand and slaps him on the back, then goes to put the new stripe on his belt. Halfway through, he stops, then goes "Whoops, wrong Matt", sends the guy back and calls somebody else up.

Made me wonder what would have happened if it had been a new belt rather than a new stripe. :wink:

It seems like a remember another poster here talking about the same thing...or maybe it was an interview of somebody, I'm not sure. Their instructor made them hang up a purple or brown belt and train another year, looking at it every class.

 

i'm going to chuckle about this story for a couple of days, thanks.
