Is Glutamine worth getting and taking separate from other supplements?

do I need to take other supplements to compliment this?

Are there any good brands to look out for?

Thanks. any feedback would be great.

yeh.. i'd also like to know... :D

btw, u can get glutamine pretty cheap thru vitacost.com (NSI glutamine 300caps for 15.99) or puritan.com ... especially when puritan.com runs those killer 3 for 1 sales!..

Why are capsules a waste of money? Whats the diffrence between a powder by itself and a powder stuck in a little capsul?

I take it because I bought 2kg of the stuff at xmas after I ran out and coincidentally got sick when I was off it. I take about 5g a day (more if I feel ill/drained) and I think it keeps me from over training/getting ill from the high workloads.

No side effects for me.

Its dirt cheap,so why not

Difference between powder and caps? Is one better than the other? Also does it matter if it is just L-Glut or Peptide Glut? All help is appreciated.

I have heard peptides are better but I couldent tell you why.

Glutimine is very good, I rec taking 20 g a day. Will help your recovery big time

20 g a day seems a bit excessive imho i heard you didnt need more than 10 anyone else know abotu doseages?

No, not at all. 5 g taken 4 times throughout the day. Esp with the wear and tear grapplers and boxers put on their body. It will help you recover faster and also boost your immune system.

How much does your glutamine habit run? and where do you get it from i assume your using the power form cause capsules means you wuold be popping 20 pills a day and that would be one large pain

Peptides are better because they are shortened chains of the original L-Glutamine; this makes them easier for your cells to absorb. It's the same principle as hydrolized proteins versus regular isolates and concentrates: shortened chains= more digestible.

Taking 20g a day is a total waste.

5-10 grams, post-workout or at night, preferably post-workout.

I take 5g right before my work out, if I forget I take it before I start my car. That is the BEAT time to take it. Right before the work out that is.

Glutamine will make exactly ZERO difference in your gains. As an athlete, if you're getting protein and not on some sort of no-carb starvation diet, glutamine is completely superfluous (read: a waste of money).
