Well, I'm new to boxing but not to martial arts. I have decided I'm going to work on my boxing only for the next few months and want a pair of gloves that can do it all for a reasonable price. I bought a pair of 14 oz Bad Boy Pro Series locally for 70USD (for lack of better options) just to pass the time because I know that proper gloves bought online will take roughly a month to get here and I couldn't wait that long without boxing. The glove will primarily be used for bag work, but for sparring as well. After a lot of research on here and other sites I have narrowed it down to the following 16 oz gloves:

Ringside IMF Tech Pro Style Lace ups @ 85USD
Twins Velcro @ 63USD
Hayabusa Tokushu Velcro @120USD

If there are other options you think I should consider given the range implied please let me know. Appreciate all the feedback I can get.

Twins:
-muay thai glove
-big and pillowy, good for sparring and defensive fighters
-tight hand compartment
-excellent quality
-the most common glove in Thailand

Hayabusa:
-lots of people here have them
-best wrist support available
-seem to last a long time
-good for bag, pads and sparring
-start stinking pretty quickly
-awkward thumb for some (but it gets better after a hundred rounds or so)
-quality control from hayabusa is total shit.

I never used the ringside but I DO have twins and hayabusa.

I would recommend the hayabusa but also take a look at stuff from Cleto Reyes and Winning, both of those are regarded as top of the line.

Ringside should better for boxing but if you want to something good for boxing you should buy pair of cleto reyes gloves.

i have 12 oz twins and i dont know how they are for boxing but they are very nice and comfort and durable as well , i can recommend them !!
if i may to recommend you for gloves from out of this list , go for boon great gloves ! better wrist support then twins pair .

Boon??? Don't think so. Hayabusa over Boon and Ringside.
lol i never mention ringside  i dont know which one better hayabusa or boon but i have used boon and i satisfied except the QC offcourse

I hear you. I used to be a big Boon fan. We all make mistakes...lol. Never again will I buy a pair of their gloves.

Appreciate all the suggestions.

I jumped on a Fairtex BGV1 and a Boon (50USD each). I have heard very good things about both gloves and at that price (and my limited experience with gear) I think it's a good deal.

But what's with the hate for Boon? Many threads on here recommend them. While there is that issue with the change of manufacturer that cited a different brown and white powder being released, are they really enough if you make sure you are being sent a good pair by the vendor?

hello man ,
yes indeed 50 usd for this gloves is good price .
i have no hate for boon i like they gloves actually , but what disappoints is the facts that they have no measures , for examples i ordered 16 oz gloves and they arrive 14.6 oz and when i asked about it they said that oz is just size and not weight , i ordered 4.5 meter handwraps from them and they arrived 4m and they reply for it that no one done for this problem any problems , so they have good wrist support and good wraps material but its very annoying that they cant meet the conditions
that they made for them self .
i can recommend on boon they have good hand protection and very very good wrist support but they problems are too small relative to the good price you found .
good luck man !!

All in all Boon is a good glove....if you get a good pair. I got lucky and had no problems with mine except being underweight. Some people have had different problems. Its a crapshoot with them. Now about the powder issue.....I haven't heard about it in quite awhile....but even so...it really wasn't much of an issue. It went away after a few rounds on the bag. A lot of people complained but thats just how it is. A lot of people in this world want something to bitch about. Something as simple as powder....lol. Looking forward to hearing about your experiences with them.

i think the word on the street is that boon gloves are great but seem to be inconsistent and have rough quality control outside of thailand. i got a 16oz pair and love them, whereas some other people may have been unlucky. the wrist support and small hand compartment (on my pair) are definitely good features
