I was switching through channels and I noticed Glory kickboxing is on big ESPN. How in the hell did the UFC get demoted to a streaming platform over kickboxing? You can stream Espn1 so dont give me the excuse its better.

Im not bashing the ufc im just kinda shocked that
1. Espn made that deal
2. The ufc dont really care where they air as long as they get money.

We dont know the full details on the fox portion or how many ppvs for 2019 so this is me just noticing something. Being on big Espn could be huge for catching casuals....i had no idea the kickboxing card was happening and now im watching...

The novelty effect is wearing off MMA, people are starting to realise it is a bunch of grapplers who have atrocious striking technique. Thank god for boxing.

Glory has actually some fighters left? They are signing with UFC almost on weekly basis recently.

Also want to mention something else; GSP ducked Siver. BJ Penn and Nate Diaz refused to fight him too.

Not sure I agree totally but for sure to an extend.

Throw in having complete bums like CM being given the platform to showcase his arrogance and entitlement.

Then the whole Dern thing - gifted a main card slot, over other established fighters, while not even putting in the effort to be a professional fighter.

Im not really mad about dern, people miss weight all the time and she has done it before. It is what it is but i agree she should be on pre prelims

I was only joking but I agree with what you are saying.

Most WMMA fighters should be on the early prelims. There is a small amount that are good, but putting WMMA on the main card because it is WMMA is a joke.

Its on ESPNews.. looks like (celebrity..) bowling on ESPN. But it might be different.

Edit: On second thought.. maybe this has to do with UFC coming to ESPN+ etc cos they are going to have a postfight show on sportscenter later etc.. ESPN didn't use to give a crap about Glory earlier, it was on ESPN3 and that was it.

Maybe they want to ease people more into combat sports..

Or I just tuned into Glory & there is HW's in the ring , pretty sure ESPN is OK for the 4 "5 WMMA 0 Skill shit along with the 5'5 manlet shit that covers the other 90%

I'm watching it on ESPN news and have before. That's a much lower tier channel but I think I've seen it on ESPN 2 late night in the past.

But you don't really think they paid Glory anything close to 150 million a year, do you?

I think part of it is ESPN wants to build up their streaming service because they'll never get 150 million back a year for their 15 events and use of library but also the UFC is going a main deal with Fox most likely and they probably don't want events on regular ESPN if they are going to pay like 250 million.

It'd be cool if Glory merged with the UFC, kind of like how Bellator has Bellator kickboxing. Then we can see some of the best kickboxers compete in mma and vice versa.

Would still watch even if it was Verhoeven-Hari every event.
