Holm working her standup and keeping Tate at bay with good striking and oblique kicks...

Tate nearly finishing Holm on the ground once getting Holly down and controlling her through the round...

Holm outpointing Tate standing looking like she would cruise to victory into the 5th round... and then Tate getting the takedown she needed with little time left and finding a way to finish her, Holly passing out rather than tapping.

did it ever leave "joke status"?
i mean what has changed? ronda is going to get the shot she might not have taken had holly won. if ronda beats meisha she'll retire seconds later claiming that she's accomplished everything she hoped to.
wmma suffers the same issue as the early ufc did, all the fighters are seemingly only accomplished at one discipline and rely on it exclusively.
i personally like that the woman have so many holes in their game. it makes for far more exciting fights as opposed to 2 guys that completely cancel each other out.

I hope she beats Ronda now. Her ground game looked great, she could have stepped that way up after losing to Ronda.
