The reason why I chose these four is because of how incredibly controversial they are. I'll add some more guys who fit into this category.

Khabib : Good but slightly overrated
Mcgregor: Best at 145, annoying loudmouth everywhere else
Mighty Mouse: Legend but could be GOAT if he conquers 135 division
Stipe Miocic: Guaranteed future legend, very high potential for hw

Khabib - Incredible Grappler

McGregor - You probably know.

Mighty Mouse - Great all-around fighter, cleaned out his division

Miocic - Tough, well-rounded, and hits hard.

And yourself. Largest hugger of all time. I mean you need a hall of fame for your creepiness as a McTaps fan. You win that award. Hands down. Im in awe. Now stfu and dont post like you werent supposed to after Nate strangled the person you have cut outs on your ceiling.

Where did I say I wouldn't post? Also with each having full camps, Conor dropped Nate 3 times and turned him into NCAA Nate while winning a decision that was easy to score.

All these motherfuckers will be talked about 50 years from now when mma goes stale like boxing. They'll be part of the folklore

Khabib - Great grappler with potential but his career has been plagued by injuries so far.
McGregor - Skilled fighter that makes good business choices for his brand.
Mighty Mouse - Phenomenal athlete that is constantly underrated due to his size.
Stipe Miocic - Good fighter entering the prime of his career.
Rich Franklin - Hard working athlete that fought the best of his era.
Rob Lawler - Entertaining fighter that finally got his respect later in his career than he should have.
Chad Mendes - All around tough competitor that's career is now tainted by a doping violation.

Rich Franklin had a great career. For his talents and work ethic, he became a champion. He isn't an all-time top 5, but definitely an all-time top 10, especially considering he is one of the most important figures in the rise of MMA in the US.

Robbie Lawler also had a great career -- or rather, a good career, with a great resurgence. After being in the fight game so long, to be able to climb back up and become a world champion by fighting some brutal wars is impressive. Robbie is definitely an all-time top 10 in his division, and probably an all-time top 5 as well.

Conor's career has been extraordinary so far, because of the interest and money he is generating. He is a great striker, has an exciting and intriguing personality, but his career is still young.

Mighty Mouse is often overlooked because, well, he is really little. But he's also a great fighter, one of the best in the world. It's both a shame and yet understandable that fighters in lower weight classes don't get nearly as much attention as their talent would seemingly dictate. He's a top 5 all-time great in his division for sure.

Stipe Miocic is a solid fighter, with a fantastic work ethic, and a great attitude toward the sport. He is just entering the prime of his career, in my opinion. I suspect he'll go 4-1 or 5-1 over the next 2-3 years, likely cementing a spot for himself within the all-time top 10 for heavyweights.

Chand Mendes' career has been good, but that doping violation definitely taints it. But he's a solid fighter, a very good wrestler, and not as appreciated for his talents as he should be.

Khabib - has a ton of potential but injuries have prevented him from living up to it so far.

McGregor - Biggest draw of this era. Good for the sport

Mighty mouse - underappreciated

Stipe - Good, maybe great, but still has a way to go in proving himself as an all time great

Rich - Good fighter and the right face to kick off the spike TV era

Lawler - Journeyman who was never meant to be champ but defied the odds. Will be remembered for his exciting and ruthless style, no pun intended

Mendes - Good athlete but always came in second place. Still has time to cement more of a legacy but who knows if he's already reached his ceiling

Khabib- Great but untested

McGregor- Great FW, but protected from wrestlers, untested at LW, hasn't defended belt

MM- Best fighter in the UFC

Stipe- Great fighter, likeable, don't think he'll be champ long just like every other HW.

Rich Franklin- Great for his time, arguably 2nd best MW ever, too old to compete at this point.

Robbie Lawler- Late amazing ressurgance, we'll see how he does post USADA.

Chad Mendes- Let's see how he does post USADA.

MM is clearly the best of that list. P4P 1. Nearing, or in the GOAT conversation.

Stipe a true HW champ with a chance to tie the defence record.

Franklin a true champ that successfully defended a couple of times.

Lawler a true champ that took on all comers. But many feel he was gifted a couple title wins.

McGregor is a champ but anything from a true champ. The guy has literally never fought a fight where he has something to lose other than the fight itself. He has NEVER defended his belt.

Mendes has had 3 shots at the interim or undisputed title. He lost all 3.

Khabib has a somewhat padded record and has injury issues. Will probably win the title someday.

4 true champs. 1 fake champ making millions. One underachiever as far as the big fight goes. And someone that it's hard to truly judge yet.

All imo, of course. But since that's the point of the thread.
