I've been watching televised mixed martial arts for a long time, like I'm sure most of you have. There's a fight that vaguely sticks out in my mind.
It was a Spencer Fisher fight. I can't even remember who he was fighting. What sticks out in my mind was that there was a technical difficulty. Said difficulty resulted in the commentary being muted. Absolutely everything else was in order. I heard how the crowd was one as they reacted to one of Fisher's gritty, blood and guts punches. It may have been one of his fights against Sam Stout. I heard the punches land. I could hear how hard they were throwing.
It was an amazing 45 seconds. And then they were back. And all I could hear was Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg telling me things about the fight that I already knew. Fisher has heart. He wants to win. So does the other guy. They both punch hard. Who will punch harder?
Not hearing those two bobble heads jabber on to placate anyone terrified of dead air showed me how much I could enjoy listening to a fight. It would be such a simple option to incorporate. Maybe even test it out on Xbox Live if you decide to rent the show through that forum. Mute commentary. I don't need someone to tell me that one man in the fight may be in trouble while the other may be avoiding trouble. It's a terrible distraction that I didn't even know was distracting me until I was blessed with that beautiful 45 seconds.
    Anyone feelin me?

No, that is not the way sports are presented and there is a reason for that.

How did this thought not pop into the TS head when he was typing those two paragraphs?

Can't hear the fight, crowd reactions, or corner advice.

Bros. Hearing the fighters fight is what I'm saying. Hearing the crowd react gives you a feeling like you're there. Hearing the punches land makes you feel like you're close. You can't hear that listening to Goldberg telling you how precise Anderson Silva's precision is.

How do people read his post and fail to grasp that he wants to watch it with sound.

I MUST be missing something, but I think this is a perfect application for our mute function. t(found on most devices these days.)

Let me make it simple for the surprising and disheartening amount of simples reading this post.

CONS: Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan telling me what I'm watching.

PROS: Hearing corner advice, crowd reaction, and fighters fight.

Also, thanks Tsarcasmic and surf fu.

In the spirit of this post I give you this. Go to the 14:02 mark.

Best way to watch, imo. At least the best way to rewatch. Full sound, no fucking Goldie or Rogan or the Parrot Twins.

Bonnar and Sonnen would do far better imo as would silence.

If you have a surround sound system you can do it.

This thread is a perfect example of dummies with reading comprehension issues talking smack. It happens more often than it should.

I got no problems whatsoever with commentary. I can pretty much just focus on the fight and not even bother with commentary or whatever is going around me.

It must really suck for you to shit in public toilets, I'm sure you are so focused on all those sounds around you that you can even hear poop splash in the stall next to you.
