I've been watching televised mixed martial arts for a long time, like I'm sure most of you have. There's a fight that vaguely sticks out in my mind. It was a Spencer Fisher fight. I can't even remember who he was fighting. What sticks out in my mind was that there was a technical difficulty. Said difficulty resulted in the commentary being muted. Absolutely everything else was in order. I heard how the crowd was one as they reacted to one of Fisher's gritty, blood and guts punches. It may have been one of his fights against Sam Stout. I heard the punches land. I could hear how hard they were throwing. It was an amazing 45 seconds. And then they were back. And all I could hear was Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg telling me things about the fight that I already knew. Fisher has heart. He wants to win. So does the other guy. They both punch hard. Who will punch harder? Not hearing those two bobble heads jabber on to placate anyone terrified of dead air showed me how much I could enjoy listening to a fight. It would be such a simple option to incorporate. Maybe even test it out on Xbox Live if you decide to rent the show through that forum. Mute commentary. I don't need someone to tell me that one man in the fight may be in trouble while the other may be avoiding trouble. It's a terrible distraction that I didn't even know was distracting me until I was blessed with that beautiful 45 seconds. Anyone feelin me?
