We normally talk about supplements that can enhance our physical performance, make us lose weight, or make us gain weight. But what about this supplement, gingko biloba, which causes a person to focus more. The supplement causes more oxygen to flow in the brain. People take gingko biloba when they need to do a lot of memorization or problem solving. Here's my question: Do you think gingko biloba will help one in training for martial arts. IMO, I think it would help a lot with brazilian jiu jitsu, sambo, or any type of groundgame because the supplement would help you focus on the small details involved when applying a move. In jiu jitsu class, I get overwhelmed with a bunch of moves and sometimes I forget. Taking gingko biloba would help me remember if I even practiced that move or not. What do you guys think, and is there anyone here who takes it for this purpose already?

I think if you take it everyday for an extended period of time you will be subject to high blood pressure.

Also, I have kown through heresay that there is nothing alive today in the wild that will eat gingko leaf. I have found no research on the subject but then again I heard it from old polynesians. Interesting regardless.

Interesting fact Chad... I love knowing little things like that.

As far as ginko, no study ever done has shown it has helped memory in normal aged or college students. Many studies have shown the opposite. Increased blood flow to the brain doesn't mean didly, if it did coffee/nicotine wouldn't help people memorize things faster (they do). They wouldn't because those cause vasoconstriction of the blood vessels to the brain.

It has only been shown to minutely increase memory in older or senile adults. Waste of money. Have a cup of coffee before practice, it'll help a lot more.
