Says he'd like to get that opportunity though: https://mmajunkie.usatoday.com/2022...e-sense?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

“It doesn’t make no sense for me, I don’t know” Burns told reporters on the UFC Hall of Fame red carpet.
"As a fan, with no rankings, no nothing - as a fan, fuck yeah I would watch the fight."

Chimaev won their fight and is now ranked No. 3, knocking on the door of a title shot against the champ Kamaru Usman. Diaz, however, does not have a number next to his name.

“I didn’t have to give the opportunity to Khamzat, I give it because I wanted it. I wanted to test the guy."
“So he fought the No. 2, he becomes the No. 3, now he’s gonna fight a guy that – OK, it’s Nate Diaz, but he didn’t have a win in a couple years. As for rankings it doesn’t make sense, as a fan, fuck yeah, I would watch it.”

“I don’t think Nate has a chance in that fight” Burns says. “I would like to get that fight".
"I don’t think he has a chance, but shit, as a fan I’d watch it."

The same reason Nick wants higher profile fights even though he's likely to lose

Fatten them pockets

Huge fan of Giblert, but I’m sensing higher than usual salt levels from the Brazilian. How long is he going to keep mentioning how “he gave Khamzat an opportunity”?

Probably because he was the only one willing to fight Khamzat and wants to be rewarded by the UFC for it. Which is understandable, they should look out for Burns after that fight. He gave them a solid and both of their stocks increased after that fight.

Yeah everyone wants Colby vs Khamzat since Usman is busy disposing of Leon. But unfortunately Colby will probably wait until 2023 to try and get a fight with Poirier at WW. That leaves Belal as the only top 5 opponent Khamzat can get and lets be real no one truly wants this fight, it just seems like the worst matchup for Belal and really doesn't do anything but give Khamzat another top 5 win. I think Khamzat could make it fun. The Nate fight is just milking his fame to hope to give Khamzat some new eyes on him.

If I were Burns, I would be offended by Khamzat fighting Nate. He gave him a huge step up, almost beat him, and then Khamzat takes a massive step down.

Don’t disagree with any of that. Risky fight for Gil, and I hope he is rewarded in some way for stepping up.

Its a brutal matchup to send Nate into the Paul fight or Bellator or wherever on a brutal loss and to keep Khamzat busy while Usman makes the defense against Edwards.

I think it is a decent solution to make sure Khamzat gets the title shot next and to fix their Nate problem. Heartless but smart matchmaking.

I think Colby vs Belal is the best fight to make for both and the UFC.

Buildup will be big, with Colby shitting all over Palestine.

One guy is taken out of the title picture, and UFC needs that tbh because Colby already lost twice to Usman and Belal is a promoter's nightmare.

Belal gets a shot if he wins, Colby probably needs one more though.

pointless fight that leads no where. it's just to keep khamzat busy.

why not just have him be the official replacement for edwards?

Khamzat vs belal makes sense. Colby is already not in the picture to begin with, so there is no point in crashing belal into him.

Not really interested in that scrap at all. I mean I would watch course but...

Colby needs to prove he can be an active and relevant contender. He has to change his output. Belal as boring as he is, has actually been decently active and I wouldn't be shocked to see him beat Colby. But I think Khamzat should take precedence before Belal and be set up for the next title shot.

What if Belal wins? They lose the Khamzat vs Usman massive PPV and they have to have Muhammed instead, who is boring as fuck and praises Palestine.

Khamzat vs Nate is a bigger fight, further tarnishes Nate for whatever he does next while he will be shit talking the promotion, and is a near lock to have Khamzat win and get the shot.

The UFC would be hoping Colby beats Belal to keep him as far from the title picture as possible.

What if Belal wins?
Then someone who actually earned a title fight will get one, and if hazmat is as good as I believe he is, He wont lose to belal.

if they wanted to push khamzat straight to the title as the next contender and have belal fight colby if khamzat wins, sure. but before that i'd rather belal fight someone who hasn't lost to usman twice in 3 years for a title. Maybe shavkat? burns? Edwards rematch?

I KNOW he doesn't have a chance and I WOULDN'T watch it.

Everyone wants to fight Nate. He’s a journeyman bum that comes with a big pay day, easy money. Can’t blame Gilbert.
