Media Gilbert Burns says Khamzat Chimaev is moving to 185

Costa is the most logical

Only other option I see is Jared

I'm sure UFC wants to balance giving him the easiest path to a title shot by fighting a big draw

The problem is there's no Nate Diaz-type fighter @MW

The only big draw option that's available is Costa, but thats not an easy fight at all.

Everyone else worth mentioning already has a fight

Read this earlier, it's felt inevitable ever since the Holland fight. 12 fights, 4 at Middleweight, 3 at Catchweight/Missed Weight, 1 towel grab, 2 Abu Dhabi weigh ins with no comission at 170lbs and 2 comissioned weigh ins at 170lbs. Middlewieght is going to be a lot tougher for him but that division needs talent more than WW so I'm still stoked to see him make a run at the title there. Also, we can now fully embrace Shavkat as our 170lb uncrowned king.

If this is true they should do Whittaker/Khamzat for UFC 285 or 286.
Dana said he was going to give him one more chance to make welterweight, and also talked about putting the Colby fight together since UFC 279 happened.
I remember that and thought that was the next step, but even Khamzat's coach said that he'd like his next fight at middleweight so perhaps plans changed.

Wow.

So the UFC spent how much time and money on this fucking clown (to get him a WW TS)?

If this is true.. I would have shit canned this guy, as well as Ngannou.

They can both be on Cyborg’s list.

Do any of these people have honour?

They spend time and money building him up. They won't really care all too much what division he will be in as long as he makes them money. He can do that at MW too.

We've known Chimaev was moving to 185 since that massive weight miss. Not sure why anyone thought he'd ever fight at 170 again.
We don't know how much he missed by. Whatever weight he was at when they told him to stop cutting is less than what he was on the scale. They told him to stop cutting way before that and he'd already put some weight back on by the weigh in. He's not the first person to miss weight, but that was his first time missing.

Am I the only one who'd rather see him fight Vettori than Costa purely for the buildup? More of a stylistic challenge too despite Vettori being insanely boring compared to Costa

Chimaev weighed in 7.5lb heavy for his scheduled UFC 279 main event against Nate Diaz on Saturday night and flipped his middle finger at the press in attendance.

Yeah, that's what he was after drinking some water after they told him to stop cutting. AFAIK, they haven't said what weight he was at when they told him to stop, but it would have been lower than where he wasn't allowed to continue the cut and started drinking water again.

Doesn't make a lot of sense to me; 7.5 pounds is actually a lot, and I doubt the veracity of that story. Professionals make weight.

Class acts like Fedor or GSP don't flip the Jounalists off like an 8th grader also. Not a fan.
