This would give those fighters who miss weight by alot steeper penalties. So even if they know they can’t get to there weight. The penalties push for them to try to get as close possible to it.

Instead of what fighters are doing now by missing by alot and then using it as an unfair advantage

A one-time fine might not be enough motivation. They should weigh fighters who have a history of not making weight during drug testing. If a fighter is 20+ lbs above their weight class (15+ for manlets) they should only be allowed to fight in the class where they meet the criteria.

I like it, but if it was more of a career and not an opportunity like Dana said, it would happen.

Instead of increasing it by X amount of pounds considering anything above a certain pound difference is an automatic match cancellation anyway, what if we did this?

If you miss weight, you can still compete, but if YOU win, it counts as a No Contest on your record and you're fighting for your show money and your opponent gets half your win bonus and half goes to the athletic commission so it would enforce them to keep a strict eye on weight, and it would incentivize fighters to make sure they make weight every time, otherwise they're fighting for a No Contest at best. This would increase fighter safety as well because they wouldn't take as many risks with their weight and they'd fight closer to their natural weight by 5 or so pounds, putting less strain on their bodies and increasing their energy tank anyway, thus leading to more exciting fights for the fans.

Everyone wins.

I like Gilbert's idea.

I also think if you've missed weight once already, then every other time you miss weight you should start the fight with a 1 point deduction. Pretty sure some Japanese orgs do this.

I guess I'm the minority. I would pray my opponent misses weight. More money for me

Yea then fighters would not fight anyway. After all that shit and plus taxes, they can probably make more donating plasma
