Just like the title says, if anyone could deliver a gif of that sweet video game move he pulled about 2 minutes into the fight, that would be cool.

I saw a .gif of it earlier.

Funny, not 2-3 weeks ago I was thinking "why aren't leg sweeps used more often?". I had intended to look up whether or not is was a rule issue but never got around to it.

So, are they fully legal? And why aren't they utilized more?

I dunno why we don't see it more, it was a proper street fighter move. First time i've ever seen it happen in MMA.

or any combat sport for that matter.

Right? I imagine they'd be incredibly effective if used properly. I mean shit, Wonderboy's leg buckled and he fell on his ass.

Someone who trains needs to know more, speak up!

Because it's risky and requires some crazy timing too.

Fair enough. I'm still surprised that it hasn't been used more considering how many fights we've seen. There's always the risk-taker fighters that are willing to go balls-out with moves like that and I still can't recall more than 2 instances where I've seen it.

overrated - capoeira kicks ala Pettis - Bendo 2, i've seen it quite a few times and it pretty much always leads to the one throwing it ends up on his back

Underrated, fucking mortal kombat sweep, i've seen it once and it worked like a charm

TS you act like it's doing a leg sweep is as easy as throwing it.

The only reason wonderboy got caught with it is because of his stance, he got caught with one leg in the air, and he got caught off balanced.
Frankie also landed something similar when BJ tried checking his leg kick so Frankie went right under it and hit his other leg.

A kick like Clements did requires prefect timing on a opponent off balanced and is very risky to throw.
A kick like Franks is a little more plausible considering it's a simple leg kick but you still need to get your opponent to check, catch them off balance, and come right under their front leg and hit the back leg.

    It's really not that simple.

yeah of course it's not easy, I just thought it was a cool move that I haven't seen before, and something I would put in the "Movies / Games" folder, that's why I was excited to see it pulled off succesfully.

I think the biggest problem with it is that the person who throws it is unable to really gain top position and ensure they stay down.

Machida's style of foot sweep has him standing over his opponent, in this one they are both on the ground and so it negates the advanatge.

    Looks cool as shit however.

Hilarious that the first guy to pull this move in the UFC is a 37 year old ranked way outside the top 10 haha. It's the kind of thing I'd expect from Pettis or Barao or Bendo or someone. Chris Clements is the man though. Had the pleasure of interviewing him once and he was a good guy.
